Primavera Beaten, Match For The 3rd Or 4th Place Next At The Tirreno e Sport

Nothing to do for the Primavera at the “Tirreno e Sport”. The bianconeri lost 2-0 against Lazio in the semi-final and cannot therefore compete for the title. An early goal and a goal in the middle of the second half ended the hopes.
The adventure in the 1st edition of the tournament being held in the Lazio region, however, does not end here. Bruni’s team will be playing in the final for the 3rd or 4th place. The match will be played on Saturday afternoon, in Menziana, against Italian champions Palermo who lost 1-0 against Fiorentina.
It will therefore be a chance of revenge against the rosanero who in the competition for the tricolour last June, eliminated Juventus who at the time were coached by Massimiliano Maddaloni.

Last Session Of The Week In Vinovo

With two days to go to the start of the championship and the home match against Chievo Verona, the team continued with its preparation in Vinovo.
The bianconeri were on the field for another morning session of training which also saw the participation of Alessandro Del Piero and Tiago. Both players also took part in the mini-match. The only player who worked on a personalised programme, apart from injured Giovinco, was Jonathan Zebina.
Today’s session was the last one of the week to take place at the Juventus Center. Tomorrow, the eve of the match against the Veneti, will see Ciro Ferrara holding a training session at the Stadio Olimpico.
It will be an opportunity to re-establish contact with the stadium that will host all the home teams. The session will once again take place in the morning and will be followed by a press conference by the coach at 12:15hrs.

In Search Of The 50th Winning Debut

During Sunday’s match against Chievo Verona, Juventus will not only be searching for the first three points of the 2009/10 Serie A but also for a small historical record. If they manage to win against the gialloblu, the bianconeri will have registered their 50th victory on the first day of the championship.
The current total, as from 1929/30 (the year of establishment of the single round) sees 49 victories, 23 draws and just 5 defeats, the last of which in the distant 1982 against Sampdoria. The total number of goals is 176 in favour (the last one scored by Pavel Nedved during last season in Florence) and 69 conceded.
Forty-nine victories amongst which there were some important extensive victories, like for example the last one against Livorno in 207: 5-1 with a hat-trick by Trezeguet and two goals by Iaquinta. The absolute record is shared between two matches : Pro Patria-Juventus 0-7 in 1959 (two goals each by Karl Hansen and Praest and a goal each by John Hansen, Muccinelli and Boniperti) and Juventus-Ascoli 7-0 in 1983 thanks to a hat-trick by Penzo, two goals by Rossi and a goal each by Platini and Boniek. There was also a 6-0 victory against Foggia in 1977, a 6-1 against Cesena in 1981 (hat-trick by Bettega) and a 5-1 victory against in 2004 with two goals each by Del Piero and Trezeguet.
The captain and the Frenchman often marked the score sheet on the first match day. Both are part of a special table which is still headed by Roberto Bettega with 13 goals. Trezegol scored 9, Del Piero 7 (just like Boniperti), all in the four seasons between 2000 and 2003.
Chievo Verona, who will be coming to the Olimpico on Sunday, have already played against the bianconeri once on the first match day. This occurred exactly 4 years ago, when Juventus won by 1-0 thanks to a goal by the usual Trezeguet. Lazio lead the table having played against Chievo 5 times on the debut.
Finally a superstitious bit of curiosity, a small jinx to break, one linked to the current year or rather 2009. Juventus has never won on the debut in the years ending in 9 since 1969, when they beat Palermo 4-1. In 1979 and 1989 it was Bologna on both occasions to walk away with a 1-1 tie at the Comunale while in 1999 Reggina emerged unhurt from the Delle Alpi with the same result.

Del Piero: "We Want A Victory Right Away"

Apart from the ball, Alessandro Del Piero wants to kick away any superstition. Having signed his contract on Friday 17th July (the equivalent of Friday the 13th in Italy), th captain is also ready to start his 17th season with the bianconeri, as a protagonist on the field against Chievo Verona on Sunday night. To do so he must still overcome a few small hurdles that stopped him from taking part in the last tests.
The captain wants to be there and score the goals which went missing in the whole of the pre-season ("I kept them for when it counts") and which he often scored on the first match day, especially between 2000 and 2003 when he scored 7 consecutive times. He would like to increase this number, to keep up with the 9 scored by Trezeguet and draw closer to Bettega’s 13.
Del Piero can’t wait to get on the field just like Juve, ready to attempt a prestigious victory which at Juventus has been missing for too long. While awating to lead the team on the field, the number 10, did so through words during a press conference. Many were the themes touched on, starting from his physical condition.
He is recovering in view of Chievo: "I am better. The recovery is proceeding well and I am aiming at being on the field on Sunday. Tomorrow and Saturday are important days. I should be 100% fit and I hope to be available. I suffered an inflammation in my back which left in pain".
There is an important precedent: "I was in doubt even before the victory against Siena last season? Then, I hope to score twice again. We want to start-off well with a victory. It will be the field to judge our strength even though our ambitions are clear".
Attention to Chievo. "Last year they hurt us at home and therefore we can have some difficulties but difficulties are there to be overcome. Our adventure must be exciting and fantastic right from the start".
Bianconeri ambitions: "The new signings have fit in well but I had no doubt about this. Here the environment has never been a problem. There has always been enthusiasm and I will to win which we now have to field".
Ahead without any proclamations: "Inside us there is a will to win and the ambition to do so. We say so in a whisper without particular proclamations. For this reason, we must be committed day in day out, do one thing at a time and do it well. This is the road which has always given me satisfaction".
Lippi vs Mourinho: "I hope that Lippi’s forecast, which sees us as Scudetto winners, is right, just like last year when he predicted Inter. When he did so I was not offended. For me Lippi did not say anything outstanding but I do not know if there are other things between him and Mourinho".
Mourinho’s tactics: "Through cleverness, shrewdness or lack of respect, Mourinho is good at putting pressure on the other teams and leaving his team tranquil. I do not know which of these three he uses. We only make sure not to be hit by the culture of suspicion which is thrown in rather carelessly. This is an important tactic, one of his qualities. We must not be attracted".
It is time to win. "My will is always to improve, evaluate the potential and integrate everything within the team. I am convinced that I have adapted to the changes which will improve my performances. The year in Serie B was a nice one. We then did well in the two successive ones but I need more then that. I have always thought of when I would get back to winning with Juventus and now I do not want to think anymore but simply win".
No wasted goals: "It is the first time that I didn’t score a single goal during the pre-season. It must mean that I kept them all for when it counts and did not waste them".
Momo to return soon: "I hope Sissoko is back as soon as possible but I think that this team is structured in such a way that it can endure his absence just like that of any other player".
Good luck Cristiano: "Zanetti’s departure surprised even me. I hope he does well in Florence in 36 matches…He is a person of great quality and here he did great things when he was well. If this choice was made it is because was good for both parties, him and the club, and this is what is most important".
Poulsen is a guarantee: "Poulsen is a guarantee. He continued to train well and if Ferrara decides to field him he will do his part".
Wage ceilings. It is not the problem. "When Berlusconi spoke of wage ceilings I don’t know if he was referring only to Milan. I think Cellino is right. The player wages should be according to the objectives. Juventus in these last few years was always self-sufficient, went through a dramatic relegation and is still here aiming to win. Things can be done at other levels or for teams with different objectives, like Cagliari for example. However, in Italian football there are other problems which should have been solved years ago".
Scudetto or Champions League?: "We must aim at doing well in both of thye main competitions. They are different in mental approach and tension. I do not see why we should focus on one of them. We must enter the field to do well in each match, Coppa Italia included. It is our duty and should be our pleasure".
Ferrara is Ferrara: "Ciro has his own way of interpreting training and managing the group. Defining differences with other coaches is premature".
To win is to enjoy it: "One enjoys himself when he wins. I never changed in this aspect. I still have the will to play and win".
Towards South Africa 2010: "I will await Lippi’s reply for the next World Cup. I still want to do well with Juventus because in this manner I will have the possibility to wearing the azzurro jersey again".
From World Cup to World Cup: "At the moment I am following the athletics world championships. They are fantastic just like the swimming ones were. I liked Pellegrini but even Bolt is exceptional".

Training: Tiago In A Separate Session, Del Piero, First Part With The Group

Juventus continue with their preparation in view of their championship debut against Chievo on Sunday night at 20:45hrs at the Stadio Olimpico in Turin. The bianconeri’s morning session today was under the observation of Jean-Claude Blanc and Alessio Secco.
After the warm-up, stretching and athletic work, the team took part in a mini-match on a reduced field. Alessandro Del Piero worked in the gym after having carried out the first part of session with the team. Tiago worked separately.

Tirreno e Sport, Primavera Qualify For Semi-Final. Match Against Lazio On Friday

From a near certain elimination to the semi-finals. In the “Tirreno e Sport” tournament which is taking place in the Lazio region, the Primavera has managed to overcome the hurdle of the first phase and remains amongst the four teams still in contention of the first edition of this tournament which has already become a prestigious event on youth football level.
It all came about in a few hours. After the defeat against Roma and the 1-1 on the field against Inter, Luciano Bruni’s team was first awarded a victory against the nerazzurri (who made 5 substitutions instead of 3) and then received another present from the Milan team which beat Roma 1-0 in the last match of Group C. Outcome: bianconeri go ahead thanks to goal difference.
They will now play against Lazio, who ironically, made it to the next round after qualifying from group B in the same manner after having won the same number of points as Sampdoria and Napoli. The match will be played tomorrow, Friday 21st August. The other semi-final will see Fiorentina against Palermo, both from Group A: the Sicilians won the group while the Tuscan team qualified as best runners-up.

Buffon: "The Match Against Chievo Is The First Of 38 Finals"

A few more days of waiting (4 to be precise) and Juventus will return to face the championship. The bianconeri will start off with a home match against Chievo.
Gigi Buffon launched his challenge on his official website www.gianluigibuffon.com. The number one analyzed the value of the squad:
"In the pre-season we revived important and positive signs. We have improved a lot compared to last year and this cannot but help our enthusiasm and self-esteem grow. A great atmosphere was immediately created in the dressing room between us players and the technical staff".
Juventus, therefore, will start off with a will to re-win the tricolour. It is easy to indicate the most fearsome rival:
"A few days ago, when we won the Trofeo Tim in pescara, I could see Inter at work. The nerazzurri impressed me, confirming the feeling that they will once again be the team to beat, but this must discourage us at all but give us ulterior motivation to improve further".
To keep up the pace with the nerazzurri, all at Juventus know that every match is important. The championship is not only won through the direct encounters and this Gigi Buffon is well aware of:
"We must enter the field every time with the determination not leave any points to anyone because every point may weigh on the final table. We are about to play 38 finals and the match against Chievo is the first one. We are immediately faced by a delicate and tricky match against the Veronesi who will come to Turin full of enthusiasm after having avoided relegation last year when they amazed all those who were already sure of their demotion to the Serie B in the middle of the championship. We must be careful with regards to the organization of their game, to their rhythm and pay attention to Pellissier".

Morning In Vinovo, -4 To The Championship

The run up to the debut in the championship is in full swing. With four days to go until the match at the Olimpico against Chievo Verona on Sunday night, the team worked in Vinovo on what was a very warm morning.
Chiellini and Camoranesi trained regularly with the group. Del Piero, Zebina and Tiago, who are on their way to recovery, took part in a separate session. Giovinco worked in the gym while absent were Sissoko – who is undergoing therapy in France- and Caceres still on leave.
As on today, definitely absent from the match against the Veneti will be Sissoko, Giovinco and suspended Felipe Melo.
The group worked on the field. After a warm-up session, they proceeded with technique exercises under Dodo Sormani. At the end of the session, Massimiliano Maddaloni worked on attacking schemes with the participation of four Berretti players.
In view of the debut, the weekly schedule foresees another 3 morning sessions: the one tomorrow – Thursday 20th August – will be followed by a press conference by Alessandro Del Piero, which will start at 12:30 and transmitted live on Juventus Channel. The press conference on Saturday, the eve of the match, will take place at the Stadio Olimpico.

Serie A, Just Like In 2005 Juventus-Chievo Is The First Match

Juventus-Chievo will be the match to officially open the bianconeri’s 2009/10 championship. At the Olimpico, Ciro Ferrara’s team will meet that of Mimmo Di Carlo which a few months ago (the beginning of April) obtained an incredible 3-3 at the Olimpico.
This was the first historical draw of the Veneti in Turin. Statistics in fact show 5 Juventus victories out of six encounters in Turin. Amongst these, is one which is directly linked to the match on Sunday.
It was the 2005/06 season. Just like at present it was the tournament which preceded the World Cup and the first match saw the encounter between the bianconeri and the gialloblu at the Stadio Delle Alpi. The date was the 28th of August and just like this time the match was played in the evening. At the end of a one-sided match Juventus managed to win by 1-0 thanks to a goal by Trezeguet on the 38th minute of the first half.
This was the first victory in the championship for the bianconeri with Fabio Capello as coach and which saw the bianconeri winning their 29th scudetto on the field which was later revoked. It was also the last victory at home against the gialloblu.

Primavera Handed Victory Over Inter. Semi-Final Of “Tirreno e Sport” Once Again Possible

The Primavera is once again with the chance of qualifying for the semi-final of the “Tirreno e Sport” tournament being played in Lazio. The Promotional Committee of the tournament met this morning and decided to award the bianconeri the victory over Inter after the latter made 5 substitutions instead of the 3 allowed by the regulations.
The 1-1 obtained on the field has hence been changed to a 3-0 victory for Bruni’s team which leaves hope for a qualification to the semi-finals. The bianconeri currently lead Group C with 3 points and a goal difference of +2. The match between Inter and Roma in Manziana tonight at 18:00hrs is therefore decisive.

And Now, On With The Championship

With the Trofeo Berlusconi having brought an end to the pre-season matches, Juventus is preparing for the official season. The bianconeri met in Vinovo this afternoon for the first session of the week. (excluding the fine-tuning yesterday, before the match against Milan) which will lead to the match against Chievo, on schedule for Sunday afternoon at 20:30hrs at the Stadio Olimpico.
The group, with only Sissoko (in France for treatment) and Caceres (granted leave), first met with Ferrara for instructions in the centre of the field and then Grygera, Chiellini, Del Piero, Felipe Melo, Camoranesi, Almiron, Diego, Tiago, Giovinco and Zebina went to the gym while the rest of the team stayed on the field where the players who played yesterday took part in an unwinding session while the others participated in athletic work followed by technique exercises and a series of mini-matches on a reduced field.

Primavera: 1-1 Against Inter, But The Result Is Under Judicial Scrutiny

After the defeat on the day before against Roma, Bruni’s Primavera returned on the field for the “Tirreno e Sport” tournament which saw Juventus playing against Inter in Bracciano. The bianconeri played a good match, especially in the first half while in the second half exhaustion left a mark. Yago’s goal, which put the bianconeri ahead, was equalised by an-own goal by Bamba. The match ended in a 1-1 draw but the result is under judicial scrutiny with the verdict expected on Wednesday morning.

Marchisio: "We Are Ready"

With the Trofeo Berlusconi having been archived, the summer friendly matches of Juventus also came to an end. As from Sunday it is down to the serious staff with the first championship match day. Claudio Marchisio, one of the absolute protagonists both in bianconero and in azzurro with which he debuted less then a week ago, analyzed the situation:
"We had a good pre-season reaching the Peace Cup final, winning the Trofeo Tim and losing the Trofeo Berlusconi only after penalties. We played well, especially in the first half while in the second we had a physical decline. However, this match has satisfied us because we managed to do what the coach asked of us".
The summer saw an important change on formation level: "It is not the 4-4-2 formation which was traditional for years and which we adopted in the last seasons. At first we found a few difficulties but we worked well and the results are beginning to show".
On what he expects from this season both on team and personal level, Marchisio has no doubts:
"To go on like this. It was an important summer to me, both for the work done and the debut with the national team, but most of all I think that on team level we must aim high in all competitions because with this team, strengthened by the new signings, we can win on all fronts. We are at the start of the season. There is time for improvement but I think we are at a good point".
Is Inter always the team to beat?
"I think, that not withstanding Ibrahimovic’s departure, they were strengthened, but we must look at ourselves because in football the one who is most hungry for success is the one that wins. We must also improve against the smaller teams, something which we missed last year".

Cannavaro: "Diego Is A Very Important Player"

During the launch of the new sky schedule, Fabio Cannavro spoke of the Trofeo Berlusconi and the bianconeri’s ambition for the season that is about to begin:
"Juventus played a very good match in Milan. Diego showed he is a very important player for our formations. The club invested a lot of money. After 3 years it wants to get back to celebrating with its supporters".
Asked about the incredible wages, Cannavaro answered: "I set an example. The crisis is not only due to players’ wages. Definitely, something must be done".

Afternoon Training In Vinovo

After the Trofeo Berlusconi “gala night”, which, notwithstanding the defeat after penalties, saw the team leaving a good impression, especially Diego, in his first friendly after his debut in the Peace Cup, the bianconeri will be back to work in the afternoon.
The appointment is once again at 18:00hrs, summer schedule, while as from tomorrow until the eve of the match against Chievo the training sessions will be at 10:00hrs.
Chievo will in fact be the first opponent in the championship, which is now round the corner, and which will be played at the Olimpico on Sunday with kick-off set for 20:45hrs.
For the first match of the championship the Juventus coach will not be able to count on Felipe Melo, who is suspended for one match, which suspension he inherited from last season.

Primavera, Bad Start In The “Tirreno e Sport”

The adventure of the Primavera in the “Tirreno e Sport”, a youths tournament in the Lazio region, started off badly. In the first match of Group C, Bruni’s team lost by 2-1 against Roma. Giuseppe Giovinco scored from a free-kick.
The result complicates the team’s progress in the tournament as they are forced to win the second match, on schedule tomorrow (Tuesday 18th August) against Inter in Bracciano. Only the first in each group and the best runner-up qualify for the semi-finals.

Ferrara: "A Fair Draw. We Emerge With Honour"

After having broken the jinx of the Trofeo Tim, it is now the Trofeo Berlusconi to become an unlucky trophy. After years of success, Juventus leave the trophy to Milan for the 6th consecutive time.
Ciro Ferrara is not thinking of the trophy but of the team’s condition six days before the start of the championship and of the fact that even the match at the Meazza left useful indications:
"We came here to win, it’s a pity we lost after penalties. The result at the end of the 90 minutes was a fair one and we emerge with honour. I am happy to have back an important player like Diego especially since it was only his second match. He has great qualities, he is clever at losing his markers, has great technique and physically strong even if he was not 100% fit today. Tonight, also due to the heat, we were a bit too long but we held well. I think it is fine like this".

Juve Lose Trofeo Berlusconi After Penalties

Juventus showed great initiative as from the beginning of the match, showing great determination right from kick-off. Ferrara fielded a 4-3-1-2 formation with Diego behind the strikers Trezeguet and Iaquinta.
After an initial few spurts in midfield, it was Milan to have the first chance of goal with Pato on the 7th minute. Juventus however were very reactive and one minute later Trezeguet shoots high from a Grygera cross. On the 12th minute Trezeguet is stopped for offside as he heads wide from a good position. Seconds later, it is curtain up on the Diego show. The Brazilian danced the samba in midfield forcing Huntelaar to foul him.

On the 28th minute the Diego show leaves its mark as the Brazilian champion runs towards the area and shoots with Thiago Silva only managing to deviate slighty beyond Storari and into the net for the 1-0.
The 32nd minute sees Grygera clearing on Pato. The next few minutes see Diego as the highlight of the match. Notwithstanding it is only his second match since joing Juventus, the Brazilian seems to be in great condition and this is also reflected by the number of passes received from his team mates. On the 44th minute Buffon saved well on Pato while.
The second half sees Ferrara making two substitutions : Amauri on for Iaquinta and Molinaro for De Ceglie.
The 46th minute immediately sees Amauri in great evidence with a heel to serve Diego who puts the ball into the centre where Trezeguet misses. Seconds later there is a series of other exchanges between the two Brazilians for a beautiful Juventus. The 53rd minute sees yet another great move by Diego who after plating Gattuso served Molinaro who put the ball into the area with Thiago Motta putting out for a corner.
Grygera is struck by cramps on the 57th minute and is substituted by Zebina. On the 66th minute a great save by Buffon denies Milan an equaliser which comes three minutes later thanks to pato who was left completely alone in front of Buffon.
The 72nd minute sees Diego leaving the field and being replaced by young Yago. The Brazilian exits applauded by the public: 2 goals in 2 matches and 2 great performances. Two minutes later a Milan shot goes over the bar. Poulsen comes on for Salihamidzic on the 82nd minute.
The last chance of the match is for Ronaldinho who enters the Juventus area and dances with the ball finally shooting just wide of the far post. On the 47th minute Juventus win a corner after a Marchisio shot is deviated. From the flag the ball is too high for Amauri to head home. Trofeo Berlusconi: Kick-Off Tonight At 20.45

The Juventus summer comes to an end with a bang with one of the most prestigious matches that since the mid-1990s opposes Juventus to Milan. The Trofeo Berlusconi will be played tonight at the Stadio San Siro at 20:45hrs. Both teams want to win this friendly, a match which sees two coaches Ferrara and Leonardo, both in their first season on the bench of their respective team.
In the first of the summer encounters between the two teams, last Friday during the Trofeo Tim, Juventus emerged victors winning the trophy after also beating Inter. In contrast to last Friday’s match, Ferrara will have Diego at his disposal, a player who brought so much enthusiasm amongst fans. There are great expectations tied to the Brazilian talent who played one match this summer, against Seongnam during the Peace Cup, and scored a goal.
The match, which will not see the participation of injured players Giovinco, Sissoko and Almiron, aw well as Camoranesi, Caceres, Chiellini and Tiago, will be shown on Juventus Channel at midnight.

Primavera, A Taste Of The Real Season In The “Tirreno e Sport”

The 1st edition of the “Tirreno e Sport” summer tournament reserved to the Primavera category, kicks-off today. The tournament promises to become one of the most important appointments in the calendar of youth football not only in Italy.
It is enough to read the names of the nine participating teams that from now until the 23rd of August will be competing on the fields of the Lazio area. Obviously, Juventus is one of these teams. Besides the bianconeri are Roma, Lazio, Cisco Roma, Inter, Fiorentina, Sampdoria, Napoli and Palermo current Italian champions.
The nine teams will be divided into three groups which will see the four semi-finalists emerge: the winner from each group and the best runner-up.
Luciano Bruni’s Juventus will be playing in Group C together with Roma and Inter. It is definitely a difficult group, but this will allow the bianconeri to come to understand their real potential immediately. Besides the value of the opponents even the close matches will make the tournament unpredictable.
Tonight at 18:30 Juventus will make their debut against Roma in Civitavecchia. Tomorrow, at the same time in Bracciano it will be the turn of the match against the nerazzurri.
Juventus arrived well equipped for this event. Mister Bruni, will only have to do without Rossi, who is still recovering from the operation to his ankle and Yago, who has been called-up with the senior squad for the Trofeo Berlusconi. Otherwise, the group is complete and with such a will to do well.

Trofeo Berlusconi On Monday

Another traditional summer match is that of the Trofeo Berluscni which sees Juventus playing against Milan in the last friendly match before the start of the official season.
This year the match will be played on Monday at 20:30hrs and Ferrara’s team will be playing against Leonardo’s side a mere two days after the bianconeri beat the rossoneri 2-0 in the Trofeo Tim.
The match has become somewhat of a tradition with the bianconeri and the rossoneri having played against each other in 16 out of the 19 editions (this year’s included) since the first time in 1991.
The bianconeri won the trophy 8 times taking home the very first edition thanks to two goals by Pierluigi Casiraghi. (2-1). Last year, however it was Milan who won the trophy with a 4-1 final score (the only goal for Juventus was scored by youngster Pasquato).
An anecdote linked to the trophy is the theory that whoever wins the match does not lift the Serie A title. After breaking the jinx of the Trofeo Tim, Ferrara’s team will surely want to break this too winning both titles.

Ferrara: "We Always Aim At Winning"

The bianconeri are about to play the last pre-season friendly before beginning their adventure in the championship on Sunday. On Monday night at the Stadio San Siro, Ciro Ferrara’s team will be playing for the Trofeo Berlusconi
"A traditional friendly which is played on a spectacular stage – stated Ferrara – where after all we always played great matches. It is a match which always better to win, after all like all other matches, from friendlies to official matches, because this must be the spirit. Participating is not enough. We must always win and for this reason we are not making preferences between our objectives but we will fighting on all fronts".
Asked what he thought of the rivals, Inter and Milan, in the Trofeo Tim, the coach answered: "Inter showed, if there was any need for this, that they are very strong. They are a point of reference for those who must chase. Milan, on the other hand had various problems in the preparatory phase but will want to do well in front of their public and their president. We want to do well too".
The Trofeo Berlusconi will once again see Leonardo opposed to Ferrara. When asked whether he is more relaxed then his colleague, Ferrara answered:
"I am never relaxed. We are both sitting on important benches. I met Leonardo on holiday and then just before the Trofeo Tim. He is a nice and intelligent guy. His team had a difficult moment but I am sure it will be solved and even as from Monday we will see a different team".
With regards to the Trofeo Tim, Ferrara was asked what he liked in the two matches played: "Against Inter I liked the will to recover the result which means a never say die attitude. In the match against the rossoneri we played good football and created more".
Finally a comment about the enthusiasm surrounding the team: "It is good to work in such an atmosphere, but we will keep our feet on the ground. We know we have to work hard and improve certain things".

Amauri Ends The Jinx!

Ferrara had said that there is always a first time to win the Trofeo Tim and so it was. The bianconeri, notwithstanding the number of important absences and the many youths fielded managed to beat the two teams from Milan to win the trophy.
In the first match the bianconeri beat Inter on penalties after the 45 minutes of regular time ended in a 1-1 draw with Amauri responding to the opener by Thiago Motta and then Legrottaglie scoring the decisive penalty in the shoot-out.
The second match saw Juventus dominate against Milan in a match won by the bianconeri by 2-0 thanks once again to a goal by Amauri and another by Iaquinta.
At the end of the day it was Giorgio Chiellini to lift the trophy on his birthday. The next appointment for the bianconeri is against Milan in the Trofeo Berlusconi on Monday.

Ferrara : "We Are Working Well"

Ciro Ferrara was visibly satisfied after the victory of the Trofeo Tim for the first time, however the coach was also very realistic, keeping his feet firm on the ground as he always did when he was a player.
Juventus won the trophy with two victories against Inter and Milan but the real matches start next weekend:
"This evening things went very well for us. Apart from the result we played against two teams which will be our competitors in the championship. However this is a frienldy and we must take it as such. Neither our victory nor the others’ defeat must be taken as a definite indication. We are working well and want to be ready for the championship".

Milan No Match For Juventus!

Juventus beat Milan and won the Trofeo Tim for the first time in a match which showed the bianconeri as evidently superior notwithstanding the number of important players Ciro Ferrara was missing. 2-0 goals by Amauri and Iaquinta.
The second match of Juventus, that against Milan, saw the bianconeri with the possibility of winning the trophy if they manage to beat the rossoneri at least on penalties (Both Inter and Juve would have 4 points with the bianconeri favoured by the direct encounter).
Ferrara fielded a rather different team in comparison to the first match: Manninger, Caceres, Chiellini, Legrottaglie, Salihaimdzic, Melo, Poulsen, Marrone, Yago, Amauri, Iaquinta.
On the 4th minute Iaquinta with a good run on the flank is blocked at the crucial moment by Oddo. Milan however attempt to take control of the match through midfield with Juventus holding well.
In the first ten minutes most of the match was played in midfield with the two teams being rather tactical. On the 12th minute Yago won a great ball and after a slight feint served other youngster Marrone who was blocked by Roma also receiving a blow in the action.
On the 13th minute it is Juventus who break the deadlock thanks to a great shot by Amauri following a good exchange between Iaquinta, Yago and the Brazilian striker (1-0). Five minutes later a good cross by Iaquinta sees the Milan keeper forced to slap the ball away.
The 19th minute sees Milan given a free-kick from outside the Juve area but Ronaldinho shoots high over the bar. On the 25th minute it is Yago who causes panic in the Milan area with the defnce forced into a desperate tackle. One minute later Amauri with great determination runs onto the ball forcing Roma to a difficult save.
The 28th minute saw a happy return: that of De Ceglie who came on for a very positive Poulsen. Four minutes later there is a great pass by De Ceglie to Iaquinta and a great shot by the striker making the score 2-0. Right after the goal Amauri received the applause of the public as he came off for Immobile, another golden youngster.
It was only on the 37th minute that Manninger was forced to a save putting the ball into corner. From the flag the defence was forced to clear after a series of attempts by the rossoneri in the area. Four minutes later the referee awarded a freekick to Milan for a foul on Inzaghi at the edge of the area. The ball was shot wide.
On the 42nd minute Ciro Ferrara gave an opportunity to Giuseppe Giovinco who came on for Iaquinta who yet again gave an excellent performance. On the second of the two minutes of stoppage time Giovinco saw Roma denying him the pleasure of scoring the third goal.
Juventus won the Trofeo Tim for the first time after two excellent performances against the two teams from Milan. The last friendly of the pre-season for Juventus will be the traditional Trofeo Berlusconi on Monday against Milan.

Amauri: "We Played A Great Match"

A match against Inter is never a friendly match. These were the words of Ciro Ferrara before the Trofeo TIM and this was the attitude of Amauri and company during the match which saw the bianconeri beat the nerazzurri after penalties.
The Brazilian striker won a penalty (taken by Iaquinta and saved by Julio Cesar) and scored the equaliser as well as the penalty in the shoot-out.
During a black out which split the match between Inter and Milan, Amauri commented: "We played a great match.Inter put us under pressure and we missed a penalty but we scpored and reacted well. We had our difficulties but we did well. One must consider all the absentees we have today".

Juve Beat Inter On Penalties!

Juventus won the first match of the triangular tournament after penatlies following a 1-1 draw at the end of the regular 45 minutes.
Juventus on the field with a 4-2-3-1 formation immediately showed they mean business showing an initial agressiveness with Amauri the as the apex of the bianconeri attack. On the 4th minute Inter benefitted of a free-kick from outside the area but the ball went wide with Buffon still diving to make sure.
On the 6th minute A great Juventus initiative saw Salihamidzic put the ball into the area with Amauri not able to head dangerously. On the counter-attack Buffon was forced to a rather difficult save on Quaresma. Three minutes later a dangerous Amauri cross sees a beautiful attempt (low flying header) by Poulsen with the ball going inches wide.
The 10th minute saw a great bit of action for Juventus with Melo winning a ball in midfield and the whole forward line running towards the area forcing the Inter defence to clear with difficulty. One minute later a good Cannavaro aerial elevation caused panic in the Inter area with the defence resorting to dangerous play on Salihamidzic to clear the ball.
On the 14th minute a lucky re-bound for Inter favoured Vieira outside the area who shot high over the bar. Two minutes later it was Iaquinta who after a speedy bit of action put the ball dangerously into the Inter area with the defence just clearing ahead of Amauri.
