Giovinco: "I Cannot Explain What Happened To Us"

This should have been a memorable week for Sebastian Giovinco. He has been playing regularly and well. Today he even scored a goal. Nevertheless, the joy of scoring a goal was not enough for Juventus’ young star. His main feeling after the game against Napoli was far from one of happiness.

"There is anger because we lost in a silly way. I cannot explain how we managed to suffer 3 goals in 20 minutes. We hope not to repeat such a situation again. We knew Napoli had made some good comebacks in their last games, but still we did not pay enough attention".

"Obviously, one of our main problems was losing concentration during the game - but we must gather ourselves together as soon as possible since we have an important game on Tuesday in the Champions League. At the moment, though, we are still too nervous to talk about today’s game".

Despite the defeat, Giovinco played a good game: "With regards my performance, I saw a lot of the ball since we tried to play in the part of the pitch were we could be more dangerous and this happened on my side of the pitch on a number of occasions".

Buffon: "I Was Hoping To Dedicate The Win To My Son"

It has been a long Saturday for Gigi Buffon. It started just after midnight with the birth of David Lee, his second son with Alena Seredova. Another little boy after Louis Thomas. An event that, together with the birthday of Juventus, could have rendered this day even more special. It all seemed to be going well, but then it was ruined by Napoli’s comeback.

"Tonight I was really hoping to win to dedicate the victory to David Lee. Instead it all went wrong. We were looking for continuity after beating Sampdoria on Wednesday, but instead I think that it is Napoli who found continuity".

"I don’t really know what to say about what happened. Perhaps after Giovinco scored our second goal, we thought that we had won the game. It is normal to slow down in such situations and they took advantage of it. Now we must look ahead to the game against Maccabi on Tuesday".

Ferrara: "I Am Very angry By This Loss – We Should Have Controlled The Result"

When trying to measure his anger from 1 till 10 after the disappointing loss against Napoli, the Juventus coach had no doubt – his anger was at 11!

"I am very angry because this result could have an important effect on our league position. At this phase of the season, we should be stepping on the accelerator and improving our results. Instead, on the 2-0 for us we seem to have let go of the game – and this is not possible in Serie A against a team like Napoli".

"We suffered their speed because obviously something was not working in our game. We were not tight enough on the pitch and left too much space to our opponents".

Even when things started looking difficult for his team, Ciro Ferrara had only one result on his mind:

"I didn’t want to even draw this game. I wanted to win but we ended up losing. It is unexplainable how on the 2-0 for us we suffered our opponents’ game so much. You cannot leave so much space to players like Lavezzi and Hamsik. When you do leave so much space for opponents like that to play, our team ends up needing to run even more".

Ferrara feels that the team needs to forget this result and move on: "I had the impression that things were going badly when Napoli scored the 2-1, but in the future we need to be good enough to remain focused and determined even when in difficulty. Despite this loss, in the coming games we need to maintain our concentration and determination just as we needed to remain with our feet on the ground after the victory against Sampdoria".

Napoli Comeback To Beat Juve 2-3

Ferrara once again chose to field a 4-2-3-1 formation after the success against Sampdoria. The only two differences (conditioned by injury and fever respectively) are those of Poulsen for Sissoko and Trezeguet for Amauri (on the bench).

Juve once again seem well determined to bring home the three points. Twenty seconds from kick-off Juventus are close to scoring as Giovinco's shot from inside the area goes millimetres wide. A few seconds later, a Camoranesi cross into the area is blocked by the defence.

On the 3rd minute, a Denis header goes well wide. One minute later, there is a free-kick for Juve after a foul on Giovinco: Diego puts the ball into the area but the defence heads it away. On the 5th minute, the ball is put into the area by Grygera but a defender heads away. Two minutes later, Maggio scares the Juve supporters as his shot went wide.

The 8th minute sees a cross into the Napoli area but Gargano clears. It is six minutes later when Giovinco shoots high over the bar from outside the area and seconds pass before there is a great cross by Grosso to Trezeguet who is anticipated. The Juve action continues and Grosso tries a shot but De Sanctis cradles the ball.

Juventus are showing great play and movement in the attack but Napoli are defending well. On the 17th minute, Lavezzi slips as the ball reaches him in the Juve area. One minute later, a Giovinco cross for Trezguet sees the Frenchman being anticipated in time. The 19th minute sees a free-kick for Napoli: Cigarini puts the ball into the area but Trezeguet heads away.

Napoli react and on the 20th minute a long distance shot by Aronica is saved by Buffon who puts the ball into corner. From the flag the ball reaches Contini who heads inches wide. Napoli are again close to scoring on the 22nd minute as Denis heads inches wide after receiving from a corner.

On the 23rd minute, Diego tries a shot from outside the area but the ball goes well high over the bar. One minute later there is a corner for Napoli: Poulsen heads away from the area. On the 25th minute, there is a corner for Juve: the ball is too high for Trezeguet.

Juve are once again on the move and on the 26th minute, an excellent Diego pass in the area reaches Melo who shoots inches wide. One minute later there is a corner for Juve as the bianconeri pile up the pressure: Diego curlle the ball towards goal but De Sanctis punches away.

It is the half hour when a Trezeguet shot is deviated into the keeper's hands by Napoli's Cannavaro. One minute later, Tiago comes on for Camoranesi who is forced to leave the field following a blow to his face by Contini. On the 33rd minute there is a corner for Juve: Diego's cross is headed away.

On the 34th minute, a great Grygera cross into the area sees Trezeguet in an aerial elevation to head home beautifully for the opener: 1-0. Trezeguet has once again proved himself to be amongst the greatest strikers ever.

It is the 40th minute when there is a free-kick for Napoli from a dangerous position: Gargano's shot is saved beautifully by Buffon. Two minutes later, a Giovinco cross is waved out by De Sanctis.

On the 43rd minute there is a free-kick for Juve: Diego puts the ball into the area but Denis heads away. Two minutes later, Giovinco nearly anticipates De Sanctis as he sprints into the area. The first half with Juve once again on the attack as there is a free-kick for Juve but Grosso's shot is well over the bar.

The Second half sees a good start by Juve. On the 47th minute Giovinco is grounded as he is about to enter the area but the referee signals to play on. Two minutes later, Giovinco passes to Tiago in the area but Paolo Cannavro manages to blcok his shot from a very good position.

On the 50th minute there is a beautiful heel by Felipe Melo to serve Grygera in the area who's shot is weak and easy for De Sanctis. One minute later, there is a corner for Napoli: Juve are forced to free the area twice. On the 53rd minute, a cross into the Napoli area is headed erroneously by Contini to Giovinco who shoots home for the 2-0.

Juve react and on the 58th minute there is a ball put into the area and Hamsik shoots home for the 2-1. One minute later, a good cross by Grygera into the area sees Giovinco being anticipated into corner. On the 61st minute, Trezeguet stops for a second as he thinks he is off-side before his shot is held by De Sanctis.

On the 62nd minute a Datolo shot goes slightly wide. One minute later, a Cigarini cross is put into corner by Chiellini. From the corner the ball reaches Datolo who shoots home. 2-2.

On the 66th minute, a Lavezzi cross is deviated into corner by Chiellini: Melo heads away. Three minutes later, a Giovinco cross is headed away. Six minutes later, a foul on Giovinco upon entering the area is not sanctioned by the referee. Three minutes later there is a free-kick for Juve: Diego's parabola goes slightly wide.

The 75th minutes sees Amauri coming on for Poulsen. Two minutes later, there is a free-kick for Juve: the ball is directed to Chiellini but De Sanctis guards well. Another corner is awarded on the 80th minute: the corner is cleared by the defence.

Juve are shocked as on the 83rd minute Juve defence caught open as a rebound from a clearance reaches Hamsik who shoots into the net for the 2-3. One minute later, De Ceglie comes on for Giovinco.

Minutes tick by fast and the only other occasion for the bianconeri comes on the 92nd minute when there is a free-kick for Juve: ball into the area but De Sanctis saves. Amauri is sent-off for an apparently inexistent foul on the keeper.

The match ends with a defeat for the bianconeri as Napoli once again manage to come back from 2-0.

All About Juventus-Napoli

NAPOLI IN AWAY MATCHES

Napoli have never drawn in the five matches they played so far away from the San Paolo, in fact they lost four and won only one match, scoring 5 goals and conceding 11. Away from home the partenopei only gained 3 out of the 14 points they have in total, putting them in a table placing which is more reassuring since Mazzarri substituted Donadoni as coach (7 points in 3 matches is a good score).

With the new coach, Napoli managed to end a match without conceding any goals. This was in Florence where they won 1-0 thanks to a goal by Maggio in the final minutes. ( a true leit motiv of the last 3 encounters: even the victory against Bologna and the draw against Milan are exploits obtained in the dying minutes).

Previously Napoli lost 2-1 in Palermo on the first match day in a match out of which they deserved better, ssing the opportunities created. They then lost 4-1 in Genova against Gasperini’s team and 3-1 against Inter due to an initial negative approach ( a habit which also featured in the last match against Milan with the rossoneri scoring twice thanks to Inzaghi and Pato). The last match of Roberto Donadoni saw Napoli lose 2-1 against Roma.

THE MOST FAITHFUL

There are 5 Napoli players who did not miss a single championship match, two of which were present for the full 968 minutes played: goalkeeper Morgan De Sanctis ( a former bianconero who made his debut in the Serie A with Juventus) and Slovak national Marek Hamsik, 22 years old leaving a great impression especially for his goal scoring talents (this season he already scored 5). They are followed by Uruguay midfielder Gargano and starting strikers Ezequiel and Lavezzi (two goals at present) and international Fabio Quagliarella (3 goals in the tournament).

THE PREVIOUS MATCH ON THE 31st OCTOBER

Juventus and Napoli already played once against each other on the 31st of October. The match dates back to 1954, the 7th match day of a championship which did not feature any of the two teams in the top positions (the azzurri in fact finished ahead of the bianconeri by one point).

The important parts of the match came all in the first half: on the 25th minute Boniperti scored the opener for Juventus but 10 minutes later the campani coached by Monzeglio managed to equalize thanks to Amadei. The result remained the same till the end, because the bainconeri missed a penalty taken by Praest. The line-up of the home team fielded by coach Also Olivieri was the following: Viola, Travia, Manente; Oppezzo, Ferrario, Gimona, Muccinelli, Mannucci, Boniperti, Bronée, Praest.

THE 1-0 LEGACY

The most frequent result in the history of Juventus-Napoli is 1-0, occurring 12 times (besides the last 2 matches played after our return to the Serie A). Here is the list of the match-winners: in 1938/39 Defillipis; 1946/47 Piola; 1956/57 Swedish national Hamrin, 3 minutes from full time; 1963/64 Miranda; 1977/78, a tricolour year, Boninsegna, at the start of the match; in the following season Tardelli decided the match, followed by Scirea for the third consecutive 1-0 result;

1-0 again in 1990/91 thanks to Casiraghi; 1993/94 Ciro Ferrara, as a Napoli defender, deviated the ball into his own goal after a shot by Andrea Fortunato; in 1994/95 the scorer was Fabrizio Ravanelli; finally in the two last championships with Ranieri with goals under the South End stand by Iaquinta in 2007/08 and Marchisio 2008/09.

Ferrara: "Determination Makes he Difference»

Juventus has lost Momo Sissoko for 25 days and the news is far from good. Ciro Ferrara, however does not give up because he knows he has an ample and a high quality squad available:

"It is that sort of time. Clearly I am sorry but we are convinced we can do well, notwithstanding the absentees. Changing tactics? I think I have players that allow me to use whatever solution I think best and I don’t think that Momo’s absence will condition me".

"Tiago? He has characteristics which adapt batter to a three-strong midfield but he can still be useful in case of emergency".

More than tactics, it is the approach that counts and Ferrara has asked his players to enter the field against Napoli with the same conviction shown against Samp:

"The formation and the tactical approach are of secondary importance compared to the will and the agonistic determination that the players managed to field against Sampdoria. It is the attitude that made the difference and it is in this that we must be consistent".

The match against Napoli will be fundamental for consistency. It is an appointment which for Ciro Ferrara and also for Fabio Cannavaro will have a particular taste due to their past. After many matches as a former player on the field, this will be the first for Ferrara on the bench:

"As a player it was a problem to play such a match due to my bond with the city and the team. Tomorrow, however, the three points count and I hope to beat them in Naples. We know we will be facing a team which is getting back on its feet after the change of coach and that in the forward line it can count on unpredictable players".

The bianconeri will be the first to enter the field and will start another duel with Inter, after the five goals each scored by the two teams in the mid-week round. More than of the nerazzurri however, Ferrara however is think of something else:

"The direct encounter is on the 5th of December and we have enough time to prepare for it. Now we have closer objectives like the match against Maccabi which will be fundamental for us. Before however there is Napoli and at the moment this is what we’re thinking of. I think the championship is not a race between two teams. Milan is there too".

Trezeguet Speaks Of Himself On “Open Mind”

It was a particular day for David Trezeguet who from a merciless striker in the penalty area, moved this afternoon from the field to the centre of Turin, or more precisely to Piazza Castello to change into an orator for “Open Mind”, a project addressed to youngsters supported by the Ministry for Internal Affairs and co-financed by the European Union.

It was an occasion for a meeting which the city of Turin organized to allow youngsters to come into contact with illustrious co-citizens and ask them about their stories, the opportunities they came across, their passions and the principles which guided them in their adult life.

It is a moment in the growth of these youngsters who during the Week of Citizenship, from the 27th to the 31st of October, will have the opportunity to learn from the dialogue with personalities such as John Elkann (Exor president) and Angelo Benessia (Compagnia di San Paolo president), yesterday .

David was adopted by Turin 10 years ago and he has always stressed his bond with the city besides with Juventus and hence attended the activity with pleasure. To the over 300 youngsters present, David spoke of his life, starting from Argentina and his first kicks to the ball to a goal made by two stones, up to the triumph in the World Cup and European Cup as well as of his many victories with Juventus.

David then spoke to the journalists present about the current team, saying: "that the most beautiful thing about the match against Sampdoria was that the players enjoyed themselves and made the public enjoy it too".

The thought’s of Trezegol and his team mates however are already on Saturday’s match against Napoli, "a good team against which we will have to field the same spirit that we had against Sampdoria". "We must not let go – ended Trezeguet – because we have many matches ahead of us".

Buffon: "An Atomic Juve"

Juventus needed a spark to return to expressing itself at top levels. This, in short, was the thought expressed by Gigi Buffon before the match against Sampdoria in an attempt to stimulate the squad. The message was received judging from the answer given by the team:

"It was more like a nuclear explosion rather than a spark – smiled Gigi on Sky Sport 24 – Nobody expected such a performance, but on the other hand the qualities of the players were those seen yesterday and we were hoping we would manage to show them".

"In big matches, like Roma and Lazio and now Sampdoria we always manage to do this. The fact is that there aren’t many matches of this level in the championship and in the others we must not lose points with which we can fight for important objectives".

Against the blucerchiati the bianconeri fielded a fierce determination: "Yes, the attitude was aggressive as from the initial stages because there was a strong will to put a dull month behind us and so everyone’s attention was optimal".

Apart from the goal by Pazzini, Sampdoria hardly ever approached Buffon. This is thanks to an excellent defensive performance and also to the Felipe Melo-Sissoko tandem:

"I feel really lucky to play with defenders like ours. Cannavaro with his experience, Chiellini is going through a great state of form and Legrottaglie who when he plays gives a sense of security simplify my work. In the same way their job is simplified by Momo and Felipe. If there is always reciprocated help like yesterday no match is impossible to win".

He was not so busy against Samp but was very decisive on other occasions. Gigi is going through a golden period: "There are always periods in which you feel unbeatable and other in which you are less so. This is certainly one of the best moments in my career, also thanks to the stimuli I derived from criticism, sometimes unjustified, which I received last year".

A goalkeeper like Gigi is an example to his colleagues and to youngsters he is a living legend just like Sirigu of Palermo said recently: "It is a bit early to be considered a living legend by a goalkeeper who is still playing in my same championship. I don’t feel that talented".

"It is however nice. Sirigu is young and grew up when I went through my golden years and therefore this is understandable. If I augur him to stop Inter? Sure, to confirm himself with Palermo, to do a favour to himself, to his team and also to us…".

Legrottaglie: "We Can Beat Anyone"

"We played how we know best, something which we did not manage to do in recent games. Yesterday’s was a show of the strength of this team". Nicola Legrottaglie, protagonist of Filo Diretto on Juventus Channel, spoke of the match against Sampdoria, a match in which the bianconeri went close to perfection:

"When a team plays so well it is because no detail is left unattended: tactical aspect, psychologically and physical. Against Samp there was a mix of all the qualities that render a team strong".

Juventus proposed itself strongly as the anti-Inter, but Nicola does not want any comparisons: 'We must not look at other teams because if we play like last night we can beat anyone. We already showed this last year when we won in Madrid. This year we are even stronger and we should not fear anyone. We should think of ourselves because referring to others can only backfire".

Asked whether the defence of Juventus is one of the best in the world, Nicola jokingly answered: "I think so if I were removed…". The talk turned back to a serious tone when it came to speaking about the match on Saturday:

"Napoli are coming from three positive results, one of which they achieved in the last second and when a team manages such comebacks it effects the morale and therefore we will face the match with important motivations".

"On Saturday it will be a beautiful show for the public and for the many Neapolitans who live in Turin. It will be a match which will allows us to make a further leap in quality".

Vinovo Opens Its Doors To Supporters

Every promise must be kept: Juventus had announced that the training sessions of the first team would be open to the public and today the promise was kept. The stand adjacent to Field 1 at the Juventus Center, which was completed recently, this morning hosted numerous fans who were invited to inaugurate the new opportunity offered by the club to its supporters.

Enthusiasm was sky high for the circa 300 lucky persons, including many children, who followed the training session. The climate, seeing the thick fog which surrounded Vinovo did not help but the vicinity of the stand to the field still allowed those present to enjoy fully the work carried out by the bianconeri.

From now on, once a week, the training sessions of Juventus will be open to the public free of charge. Until the end of the year, the possibility of seeing the idols from close range will be reserved for subscribers of Juventus Club DOC and Juventus Membership as well as the guests of the club, while as from January all supporters will have access to the stand by booking through a simple accreditation procedure on the club’s website www.juventus.com.

Amauri: "It Was A Great Performance By The Whole Team"

A few weeks ago he was being criticized because he was failing to score and now Amauri has scored 4 goals in 3 matches: "I am really happy that I am managing to score and that Juve today played a match up to its standards like we hadn’t played for some time. We must continue like this".

The Brazilian striker however does not try to take all the merit: "It was a great performance by the whole team. This could be seen right from kick-off. We were criticized by people who said that Juve was winning but not convincing. Tonight I think we made our point".

"Now we must continue in this manner. We must be clever to manage this enthusiam well. Today we knew that we had soemthing to fight for against a Samp that were doing really well".

Asked whether a 4-2-3-1 approach is the best formation for this Juve, Amauri answered: "Today we played using this tactical approach and we did well but I think that even the other formation is good. We must be capable of playing with any formation. When we are two strikers we must be capable of playing like this too".

Giovinco: "It Was Important To Win And We Did So In A Spectacular Manner"

It is hard to decide who was the man of the match in an excellent performance like the one tonight, but surely enough Sebastian Giovinco had an excellent performance, creating a lot and having a good share of the result.

"I am very happy. It was important to win and we did so in a spectacular manner. Today it was a near perfect match. We conceded a goal but the performance was a good one and the result speaks clearly. Today we interpreted the match excellently. Tonight we enjoyed ourselves and this is something I did not experience last year".

Cannavaro: "The Most Important Thing Is The Spirit And The Will"

Fabio Cannavaro knows what it means to be part of a great and winning team and tonight he cannot hold back his joy even though he is angry about the goal conceded: "Surely tonight the team showed it is strong, winning many balls, playing well and scoring. This is the way Juve should play with determination and a winning attitude. I am a bit angry about the goal conceded".

"Chiellini? Giorgio is young, has the right physique which permits him to advance and until he keeps on scoring we will allow him to advance. The most imporatnt thing is the spirit and the will. There were matches in which this was missing and this must not happen. You all know that our first defenders are the attackers and when these manage to stop the opponent everything turns out easier".

Ferrara: "Today The Players Played Like Great Champions"

It is hard to fight back the great joy after a 5-1 victory and it is obviously of great satisfaction for a coach to win in such a manner: "We are very happy. It was a perfect evening due to the result, the match played and the way we handled the match. This is the spirit of Juventus. Clearly, if we see tonight’s match this would seem like the best tactical approach but in an entire championship sometimes you have to change".

"Today the players played like great champions. They were perfect and I can only thank them and say a big well done. This would be the perfect Juve but I am aware of the fact that it is not easy to maintain this rythm. It is however, the starting point of our team".

Asked who according to him is the man of the match, the Juventus coached said: "It is hard to pick out a single player because today played as a team and in such cases you create more and suffer less. Even the players who came on did really well".

From now on: "This should be the charge that launches us. It is true we came from a series of negative results and this conditioned us but we showed that we can come back and now we have to maintain this".

Tonight At The Olimpico

Tonight Juventus hosts Sampdoria at the Olimpica in a match valid for the 10th match day of the Serie A. In contract to the match played on Sunday in Siena, Ferrara will only have to do without Iaquinta who in Tuscany sat in the stands due to the injury suffered in the training session on the eve of the match which led to the player undergoing surgery yesterday. He will also have Caceres missing who fractured his nose during training. Also called-up is Primavera attacker Ciro Immobile.

Let us go through the progress of Sampdoria from the start of the championship which sees the blucerchiati in second place with 20 points, 2 points ahead of the bianconeri. The progress of the team coach by Luigi Del Neri has a parallelism with that of Ciro Ferrara having registered 4 consecutive victories since the start of the season.

They were very convincing when it comes to the games played as well as the scores achieved: 2-1 in Catania on the first match day; 3-1 on their home debut against Udinesel1-0 in Bergamo when Atalanta was still coached by Gregucci; 4-1 against Siena to crown a beautiful period which was then interrupted in Florence where they lost 2-0 due to a losing attitude. The comeback came a few days later with a 1-0 victory in the big match against Inter thanks to a goal by Pazzini.

After the great exploit they drew 1-1 twice against Parma and Lazio in matches which were characterized by referee recriminations. Finally, on Saturday afternoon they gave a show against Bologna with a 4-1 victory which was achieved within 18 minutes between the 8th and 26th with the opening goal scored by Pazzini, two goals by Mannini and a goal by Ziegler for the partial 3-0 score. It was a beautiful and sparkling Samp, capable of scoring easily four times with shots addresses at the goal defended by Viviano.

The attacking profile between the home and away matches is very different. At the Ferraris, the team from Genova scored 13 out of the 17 goals registered. They conceded 8 goals in all up to now (4 in Genova and 4 in the rest of Italy). With 6 goals to date, Giampaolo Pazzini leads the blucerchiati’s top scorer list.

The surprise of the season however, is midfielder Daniele Mannini who is second with one goal less. Marco Padalino scored 2 goals while there are 4 players with 1 goal each: Daniele Gastaldello, Angelo Palombo, Fernando Tissone and Antonio Cassano.

The most faithful in Del Neri’s team : there are 6 players who played in all 9 matches. Having appeared for the full 860 minutes, without a single substitution, is goalkeeper Luca Castellazzi. He is followed by captain Angelo Palombo, Antonio Cassano, Gianluca Pazzini and Maruis Stankevicius, all having played for over 800 minutes. Even though he played much less but still very useful to the team, seeing that he was present in all matches (518 minutes) is Swiss player Reto Ziegler.

Ferrara: "Against Samp We Have To Be A Top Level Juve"

Having returned to victory, thanks to the two 1-0 wins against Maccabi and Siena, Juventus wants to extend the series, just like at the start of the season when a poker of victories in the championship gave out an important sign.

A victory against Sampdoria, the next opponents at the Olimpico, will have a double weight. First of all it will weigh on the table since it would mean Juve overtaking the blucerchiati and a guaranteed second place. It will also show that the unhappy moment of Juventus is definitely over.

In Turin, Del Neri’s team is expected with the knowledge that it is doing well and which is in great shape. To beat the blucerchiati, knows what is necessary: :

"We need a top level Juve to beat the team which is in most in form at the moment. To win we must play a great match. Decisive match? Here they are always decisive and we must try to take advantage of the home stadium".

"Cassano? He is strong this year as he was in the last year or when I played against him as a player. He is decisive and fundamental but Sampdoria had an excellent game organization which allows even other players to do well".

To face a well launched Sampdoria, Ferrara would have liked to have a complete squad, however after Iaquinta he also lost Caceres (nose fracture) and Felipe Melo received a blow in the last training session. All this, however, does not frighten the coach:

"I am hopeful about Felipe. I think he can recover without any problems. Injuries and suspensions are part of the job. The important thing is knowing how to manage these situations. Nonetheless I have an excellent and numerous squad at my disposal. I have faith in those who will be playing and Samp at the moment is capable of motivating the team".

Cobolli’s Farewell: "They Were Three Intense Years. I Shall Remain A Juventus Supporter"

During the shareholders’ meeting, Giovanni Cobolli Gigli, outgoing president, wanted to bid farewell to everyone with these words:

"They were three intense years. I would like to thanks the players, particularly the faithful ones (Del Piero, Buffon, Trezeguet, Camoranesi). I would also like to remember the fans. I remember that day in Summer when I met them for the first time".

"I would like to remember the employees, those working at the headquarters and those in Vinovo. I would like to remember you, the shareholders, particularly those who contributed to the subscription for the capital increase. I would like to remember the board of directors, especially the independent members, who guaranteed a transparent management".

"I remember with affection the families Neri and Ferramosca and I will never forget them as I will never forget their sons. I thank the media with whom it is always very difficult to communicate".

"I share the same thoughts of Elkann: “One must always look to the future and put in maximum charge and determination”. I will remain a supporter of Juventus, a supporter of Blanc and I assure you, you will achieve great results".

Blanc: "In The Name Of Consistency"

The first words of Jean-Claude Blanc, who apart from the responsibilities of general manager and chief executive officer has also been entrusted with the role of president, are addressed to Giovanni Cobolli Gigli:

"I thank him. With him I shared an extraordinary experience in the most difficult moment for Juventus and perhaps for Italian football. It is also thanks to Cobolli if today I am here, accompanied by a very important emotion, as the new president of Juventus. His charisma and personality were fundamental in these years".

The talk then shifted to the present and the future, to the set-up of the club on the inside in which he will keeper the three roles resting on a staff of top level in which he renewed his faith:

"Alessio Secco, Michele Bergero and Marco Fassone are the three managers which form the team with which I want to work in the coming months and years. They are the future of Juventus. Behind us are in the club are other managers and employees who work. There is then the board of directors before which we will continue bringing the most important decisions as we have always done".

"I thought very much of the word with which to define this new chapter – continued Blanc – and at the end the one which I found was “consistency”. This is not a new cycle. It is the same which began three years ago and which will end when we would have brought back a trophy to our supporters".

Repeating what he said during the assembly, that is that the primary objective is winning, Blanc concluded:

"With these prospects, together with the board of directors, I receive this challenge linked to my new role with respect to the 14 million supporters and the faith to the shareholder of reference, knowing that the teams, the one that enters the field and the one that works behind the scenes are up to standard with our objectives and the history of Juventus"

Blanc : "The New Stadium Will Be Our Visiting Card"

After the speeches by the shareholders during the meeting which is going on in Vinovo, Jean-Claude Blanc spoke of the new stadium underling the strategic importance which it will have in the future of a club which nonetheless puts as its priority the victories on the field:

"This is our mission – confirmed Blanc – and it is around these victories that we will develop our business activities. The subject of the stadium must be seen in the context of a European and worldwide economic crisis which must be overcome. We will make a visiting card out of the new stadium, like our European competitors such as Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Manchester United have done: it is with them that we must compare ourselves even when it comes to the profit from the new stadium".

Blanc continued to treat this subject, underlining that "this objective, that the board of directors established three years ago, was carried out without taking resources out of the sporting part, thanks to the agreement with Sportfive and the agreement with Credito Sportivo".

"Within 600 days – concluded Blanc – Juventus will have one of the most innovative stadium in Europe with the supporters physically close to the field and a commercial area integrated within 35000 square meters".

Blanc: "I Confirm My Faith In Secco»"

During the shareholders’ general assembly, Blanc also spoke in depth of the sporting area confirming his faith in :

"Alessio and the staff within the sporting area which has done well with regards to all the decisions taken on the transfer market and in the management of the youth sector. I decided to entrust such a role to a young manager like Secco who did really well. The results haven’t yet been reached but in Italy very few have done better than us".

The first subject to be tackled in depth was that of the transfer market: "We confirmed ourselves as being strong and with all the right cards in place to do well through our choices, the ones we made three years ago in order to confirm great champions and the ones taken recently relative to the new signings".

"When it comes to the transfer market nobody is infallible and even we are trying to improve. We showed this, this summer when we beat the European competitors by bringing Diego to Italy".

Blanc then spoke of the injuries: "Football is a physical and competitive sport and all the clubs in Europe must know how to manage a squad which is inevitably hit by injuries. It is true that last year we had many, registering an average which was superior to that of other clubs".

"This however has nothing to do with the sports complex in Vinovo which is a structure of very high quality. At the start of this season we acted upon this aspect. This effort has been rewarded by the fact that during these initial months we have registered an injury average which is below the European mean. The entire technical staff which works with Ciro Ferrara is working excellently".

The conclusion is dedicated to the youngsters: "The complex in Vinovo is at the centre of our youth project . The expansion works of the centre will allow for the hosting of all the teams within the youth sector. At the time being we are investing 6 million Euros a year on youths and intend to invest further in this sector".

Buffon: "Expected By Nine Crucial Days"

Two victories in four days gave back tranquility and restarted Juventus machine, in Champions as well as in Italian Championship. Scores 1-0 achieved vs. Maccabi Haifa and Siena showed a Juve still looking for right automatisms, but also for a solid defense which guaranteed to maximize Chiellini’s and Amauri’s goals.

Hermetic defense and an extraordinary Buffon. As it happened also yesterday at Franchi Stadium when, by an exit on Ekdal at first half end, he avoided chasing. The day after the success in the land of the Palio, the number one resumed through his internet site www.gianluigibuffon.com.

"We came back from Siena with an important victory– Gigi said-. We are satisfied with these three points also if, every one of us is aware that we have to improve as soon as possible. In such period, when you are “sickly”, the important thing is to return having certain continuity in winning".

Two victories in four days allowed Juventus to get to second place in Champions’ round and keep two points below Sampdoria, right on the eve of direct match scheduled for Wednesday. The match vs. blucerchiati will open up another very important cycle:

"We are going to face another crucial period. Nine crucial days for giving our season a target, concerning the Championship, as well as the Champions League. We will have important answers starting with next three engagements vs. Sampdoria, Napoli and Maccabi Haifa and that’s why we must be attentive and focused, but also confident".

Juventus’ philosophy is to look at a commitment at a time. Therefore the attention is totally for Del Neri’s team, a real surprise of this season beginning. Nothing of current Sampdoria is to be neglected and Buffon knows it:

"We are going to face one of most fit teams, currently playing Italian best soccer. For this reason we have to congratulate for their organization on the pitch and their trainer. Anyway remembering that everything would be more difficult without the many quality elements in the team, like Cassano, Pazzini, Palombo and Mannini, but also my collegue Castellazzi, who is really doing a great championship".

Finally a thought for Iaquinta who right tomorrow will be operated at his knee and for a little won’t be able to give his support to the team:

"I want to send my personal “good luck” to Vincenzo. I hope he will soon come back with us because we really need him".
