Amauri: "I Will Prove My Worth"
With the two goals scored in Dublin against Shamrock Rovers besides the good performances in the first friendly matches, Amauri has deserved the candidature for player of the month in the new Juventus season. Juventus want a comeback after last season and the striker is one of the most determined to leave the past behind and this he insists on in every interview.
The last of these interviews is the one on Sky Sport after the return to work following two days of rest: "I was always very critical of myself. The holidays did me well because they helped me reflect on such a negative year and recharge my batteries. I regained enthusiasm. It was not easy. Last year there were so many protests even against me. I must show my worth. I know my value, I began from scratch. I want to do this for ma and the team but we all started off well. I will do all I can to score 20 goals as I was asked by the supporters in Pinzolo. I have always scored. I must remain serene and tranquil".
Amauri is convinced that even with the transfer market in full swing he never felt threatened . "I have always been serene. The transfer market is something the club deals with. I am well and can compete against anyone. I also hear of the transfer rumors but this does not change anything for me. It was easy to say I wanted to leave after such a season but I want to compete".
The striker is charged up and has a great wish to add more goals to his personal tally but most of all he wants to see the true Juve back:
"This year we started off in a different manner – he continued. We had a shower of humility. There is a different atmosphere and we hope it augurs well. We all joined in the determined mentality of the club. This year we can surely do well. We definitely must work hard because many things have changed but there are the right players. We must take one match at a time".
Finally a thought about Luigi Del Neri, a coach which Amauri first got to know during his time with Chievo:
"I am really happy to have him back here at Juve because it means he did well in the past. He is certainly the same as at the time of Chievo because he always says what he thinks and treats everybody equally. He meets with the players throughout the week and rewards them for their commitment. If he is a dictator? He is the coach and the coach must do so. We must be clever enough to create difficulties for him".
