A Del Piero Gem Aweeps Away The Rain
Del Neri fielded an identical formation to the one in the first leg with Diego and Amauri in the attack. The match is being played in adverse weather conditions under heavy rainfall.
Shamrock seem to be determined to re-open the match and start rather aggressively. Juventus with a free-kick on the 8th minute: ball put into corner by the defence. Seconds later, a Lanzafame pass towards Diego gets stuck in a puddle.
On the 11th minute, Shamrock try to attack but without creating difficulty for Storari. One minute later, first Diego is stopped by a dubious foul in the area and then Amuari heads wide.
It is the 14th minute when a Marchisio shot is first deviated but the ball is once again put in for Amauri who's header is saved by the keeper and with difficulty by the defence. Juventus try hard to attack notwithstanding the poor conditions.
Four minutes later, there is a corner for Juvee: ball into the area but Bonucci's header goes wide. The weather leaves its effect on the match and the teams find it hard to move. On the 31st minute, First a De Ceglie cross and then one by Lanzafame are cleared. One minute later, Juve are dangerous with Amauri but Mannus grabs hold of the ball.
The 33rd minute sees a free-kick for Shamrock: Murray heads just wide. Three minutes later, a good Pepe low ball into the area is cleared away. It is the 37th minute when an Amauri shot from outside the area goes just wide.
On the 38th minute, a lob goes just high over the bar to Storari's relief. Two minutes later, Amauri's conclusion is deviated into corner: ball cleared by the defence. The 42nd minute sees a corner for Shamrock: ball cleared by the defence. The last minute of the first half sees a Diego shot held by the keeper.
Before the start of the second half Del Piero comes on for Diego. The captain is immediately into the match and on the 2nd minute his shot goes wide. One minute later, there is a corner for Juve: ball into the area, Amauri tries an overhead kick but misses the ball.
Four minutes later, there is another corner for Juve: ball cleared by the defence. The 9th minute sees Amauri stopped for a foul in attack.
On the 11th minute, there is a free-kick for Juve: Del Piero puts the ball in but Murray clears into corner. From the flag the ball is put dangerously into the area but the defence finally manages to clear.
The 15th minute sees a corner for Juve but the ball is too low and easily cleared. It is the 16th minute when first a great Lanzafame shot is waved away by Mannus and then a Motta shot is save into corner by the keeper. From the flag the ball reaches Amauri who heads well but Mannus blocks. Seven minutes later Amauri is stopped for off-side after a good run to enter the area.
On the 24th minute, there are 3 attempts in one piece of action for Juve see the final Sissoko shot deviated into corner: ball cleared by the defence.
The 29th minute brings joy to the many supporters in Modena: free-kick for Juve: beautiful shot by the captain straight into the net for the opener (1-0). Trezeguet comes on for Amauri on the 33rd minute.
It is the 38th minute when a Marchisio shot goes wide. One minute later a Twigg header goes wide but Storari is well placed. Seconds later, a Del Piero header goes just wide. On the 40th minute, Storari saves a dangerous ball by Murray.
It is the 41st minute when a Beautiful Del Piero shot goes inches high. The referee awards 2 minutes of stoppage time and on the first of the two a Del Piero ball into the area finds Trezeguet unprepared.
Del Piero and Juventus shine notwithstanding the stormy weather and make it through to the play-offs the draws of which will be held tomorrow.
