Del Neri: "We End This Year In The Best Way"

Del Neri hopes he’ll recover Aquilani, while is a little more skeptic concerning the possibility to have Marchisio back: "At this point, considering that Melo is disqualified, midfield central couple could be Aquilani-Sissoko, otherwise Giandonato will play. Bentegodi ground? It’s particular. It has been really exploited, by two teams, by rugby… I know Chievo has done it all to fix it".

Going back to the ending year, Del Neri analysis cannot be but positive: "I have reached important targets, like Champions League with Sampdoria. We hope we’ll end this year in the right way. The best year of my career? Well, living in Serie B with Chievo and then, the following year, be at Serie A’s top, it’s not that bad. It means they made the right choices, then. In Verona I found new friends, lasting relationships and an important feeling with the city".
Coming to the last part of 2010 and to the months with Juventus, Del Neri is satisfied with progresses, but he is completely pleased: "In soccer there’s no end to improvements and must be continuous in all areas. The defense suffers less because midfield is filtering more, but we must keep on growing".

"Whom would I give the Oscar of the year to? At the President, who made Juventus rise and to Beppe Marotta who, with his collaborators is doing a great job. I’m part of this project, but if everything is going in the right way, is also thanks to Melo improvements, and to Del Piero availability… What I did, I did it for my players. I just put my experience and professionalism know-how at Juventus disposal".

Marotta: "Championship’s Protagonists"

Christmas is getting closer. Giuseppe Marotta speeded up things to send his wishes to all Juventus supporters. He did it through Juventus Channel, speaking live at “Filo Diretto”. An important occasion also to take the stock of 2010, and to think about good intentions for upcoming 2011.

Many, as usual, the curiosities from supporters. The team’s moment, targets for season second part and so much market which, in January, is going to live another important phase.

Current matters first. A Juventus leaving Europe and focusing on Championship: "This summer we made a significant renewal. 12 new players arrived, not to mention the many boys from Primavera who already joined the First Team. So it was natural having some difficulties to put the group together. The elimination from Europa League is mainly because of how we started the Round. On Championship, the team knew how to recover instead, going through a linear path and I’m sure we will be protagonists till the end".

The end of the year is also a time for reviews and awards. His personal Oscars, Marotta knows already whom to address them to. "First of all to the group. But if I must say a name, I’ll say Krasic. The negotiation for his signing has been one of the most difficult of my career, but it has been worthy. Milos has immediately aroused great interest by showing all his qualities".

Now it’s 2011 turn. Juventus want to constantly improve, to fling themselves again. Maybe counting on some protagonists more. From market, but mainly by recovering injured players.

"Buffon and Del Piero do not represent peculiar cases. Both of them and Amauri, who is recovering from his injury, will be the protagonists. Concerning market, we’ll try to capitalize opportunities which may come, but only to sign up players stronger than the ones we already have, so it won’t be easy. Maybe we could bet on someone frustrated by his current situation. We made great investments in June, and there won’t be any further".

So, according to Giuseppe Marotta and to all his skilful staff, there is going to be a season second part of great work. A work that has been really appreciated so far, by supporters and most of all by Andrea Agnelli.

"I’m so happy for his compliments. I do not think I was the best signing up; let’s say I was the first one! His words are a further spur to try to keep on improving and repay his trust. I’m only the terminal of a very close group, who works hard, and to whom I send all my appreciation and thanks".

Legrottaglie: "On The Pitch To Honor Our Colors"

Worthless only for its result. Juventus-Manchester City cannot be considered a trite match and all bianconeri are ready to face the match by the greatest commitment. To try to keep European invincibility (with nine matches in a row, so far), but most of all for the Club’s image.

From this point of view, Nicola Legrottaglie’s words during Del Neri’s press conference are emblematic:

"I’ve been here at Juventus since many years and so I know there are no friendly matches. No one wants to make a poor showing and everybody wants to honor these colors. Moreover, for those who played less so far, this is the right occasion to show we are feeling fine and we can put the trainer into troubles in taking decisions. I’m so willing to play, to challenge myself and give it all for the team".

Juventus.com

Del Neri: "We’ll Honor Our Engagement"

"It’s not true we’ll make only young players play". Del Neri clears our immediately that Juventus is not going to undervalue the challenge vs. Manchester City. Of course, result does not matter, but it’s about an important match, anyway:

"Obviously, at this moment, the match in Chievo is more important to us, but we’ll try to play our part anyway, because we have the strength and the quality to achieve a good result and we’d like to win a match in this round".

Concerning possible line-up, the trainer gives some clues: "Grygera could be present and Legrottaglie will play for sure. He should, each Sunday. At midfield, Melo and Sissoko could be playing. Boniperti? He will be among called-ups and he, together with Giannetti, Camilleri, Buchel, Giandonato, may have the chance to play, maybe going on the pitch when the match has already started. We’ll see".

Independently of the result, vs. City it won’t be a simple match: "We are going to face a tough team, currently at second place in their League, with great players and very well trained. We will need a hard Juve and it will be an enjoying match. The two teams have got nothing to ask to the result, but they’ll play a challenge worthy their names".

The adventure in Europa League was not positive, for all Italian teams: "Only Napoli is still on the run, it’s true, but our soccer is growing up. Has it been put back in its right perspective by this edition? I look at Juventus and we are out of it, but not put back in our right perspective".

"We have lost, but we made a good impression in Manchester, or in Poland, where we tried to win despite hazardous weather conditions. I think my team played a more than respectable Europa League, besides facing many matches in a “construction” moment".

Del Neri’s work, after the first months in which he had to start with a deeply renewed team, is showing its results and in fact, Andrea Agnelli gave credit to the trainer: "Compliments are always welcomed, especially the President’s ones, who I appreciate a lot and who is a leading figure for Juventus. It means he made a good choice and I’m happy to prove he is right. This is also thanks to players and to my collaborators. I’m not the only one to work, many are the people composing a united group who is daily committed for Juventus’ good".

Del Neri: "After Yesterday Victory We Are More Self-Confident"

The day after the great victory vs. Lazio, achieved in extremis thanks to Krasic’s magic, Juventus is in high spirits. Euphoria and a deeper awareness of their own capabilities, for next engagements. Waiting to restart training in the afternoon, Luigi Del Neri spoke in exclusive at Radio Monte Carlo.

Speaking live during the program conducted by Teo Teocoli, Gabriella Mancini and Max Venegoni, Juventus trainer expressed all his satisfaction for the team’s moment. "After the yesterday victory, we are more self-confident. Things are going well, the group is cohesive, united and they believe in what they do".

A united group where everyone is giving their contribution. A group where all players are the same in trainer’s eyes. Asked to answer once again about Buffon matter, Del Neri says:

"Unfortunately when we speak, we are often misunderstood. Buffon is an important player, he underwent a difficult surgery intervention, he is working hard and as soon as he’ll be all right, he will go back being Buffon. We are sure he will do well with Juventus and with the National Team. But first, we must recover him completely, and now think about keeping the group together".

Lastly, a thought for the Championship. The victory vs. Lazio allowed the bianconeri getting to second place – together with Roma and Napoli -, six points from Milan. Here is Del Neri’s thought:

"An already working frame, the rossoneri added important players such as Ibrahimovic, Robinho and Boateng. Allegri’s team has technical and physical characteristics making them better than any other team, at this moment, allowing them winning matches easily. For sure they will fight till the end, but the championship is still long to go and we do not know what may happen in the future".

Marchisio: "Operation Contact"

It’s been an evening of sports, show and solidarity, with quite a numerous Juventus representative at Palatazzoli in Torino. At the “Ice Stadium” it was in fact scheduled the ice-hockey match, valid for Serie A2 Championship between Real Torino and Egna Riwega.

A match followed also by Claudio Marchisio, Nicola Legrottaglie, Zdenek Grygera, besides Juventus Primavera, with Mister Bucaro and Gianluca Pessotto. The evening’s proceeds has been entirely donated to “Crescere Insieme al Sant’Anna” ONLUS Foundation, together with funds made from the Charity Lottery which put up as a prize the Claudio Marchisio’s Juventus jersey, Real Torino jersey dedicated to Claudio Marchisio and the match official puck, autographed by the Juventus midfielder.

The match was also the occasion to take the stock on Juventus’ moment, now already focused on Sunday evening match vs. Lazio: "It’s an important moment for us – Marchisio explains – because winning this match, we will reach second place. We must capitalize this match to reach Lazio, who started the championship well and they won’t give up. We thought it was only that starting moment, but they keep on gaining points. They will be tough opponents".

Nicola Legrottaglie reasserts this concept: "It’s too early to say this will be a decisive match, because there are still many matches to play, but it can be psychologically important to us. The team is improving and winning such a match and getting to second place, maybe while Milan loses, could increase our self-confidence, and then we would be able to “hurt” anybody".

Lazio is the next opponent, but target is obviously the top of classification. Milan, at this moment, is 6 points far, ma Juve won’t give up: "Milan bought a great forward, Ibrahimovic – Marchisio explains – he’s making the difference, but we know him well anyway: he always played so well, with Juve as well as with Inter, and with Milan he is doing just the same".

"They have players like Gattuso, who this year is back in very good shape and is playing greatly, but also their defense, even if now they are having some problems with Thiago Silva. They have great champions, used to win, we have champions too, and who achieved important successes and some young players who are willing to win. We must carry on with this binomial, to get to some Trophy this year".

And according Legrottaglie, they can do it. They need patience and awareness of their own capabilities: "It’s a growing Juve, still in an acknowledgement phase. We are starting preparing something big. You cannot reach the top immediately, you have to start bit by bit. Doing so, you get better results in the long run. This is the patch we have to follow: we know what we want and it’s necessary to get to the arrival".

Del Neri: "We Need A Perfect Match"

"I do not think the match vs. Lazio is the season crossroad. It will be psychologically important, but championship has “just” started". Del Neri doesn’t think this match is going to be determinant, but he is well aware of the fact that victory will be very important, not only because it would throw the bianconeri at second place, but it would also represent a decisive self-confidence injection to chase most ambitious targets.

The match vs. the biancocelesti will have a special taste for Juventus trainer, who will find himself in front of Reja, who trained him when he was a player, and they have a very good relationship: "Edy is a friend and a very good trainer. He created what we are trying to create, a strong group, cohesive, with the right mood. We are alike in this sense, otherwise we would not be so close friends. He achieved important results and he is the evidence that, in soccer, if you are prepared and passionate, you can get to important targets ".

Lazio is in fact this season surprise: "They’ve got important soloists and pay great attention to what opponents do. It’s their strong point, just like the fact they suffer a few goals and they are able to capitalize all right occasions. We’ll have to play a perfect match, without conceding anything, and win. I hope it will be a good match, in which teams will show to deserve their position in classification. It will be a challenge between two very good teams, trained by two friends who, on the pitch, will compete for everything, till the end".

Concerning possible line-up, Del Neri gives some anticipation, confirming Marchisio will be back and he’s choosing between Motta and Sorensen: "Grygera is not ready yet, no one could be, after just three days of training. I think he won’t not even be sitting on the bench. On the front Quagliarella and Iaquinta are doing well, so they will play. Del Piero showed he’s always ready and for me he is a guarantee".

Grygera: "We Are All Focused On Lazio"

Injuries emergence is a memory at Juventus. One after the other, Luigi Del Neri is recovering all his pawns and he will soon be able to count on an almost complete group.

Zdenek Grygera has been the last to come back. The Czech, who stopped on last 21th October during the match in Salzburg, recovered from his knee problem and is now ready to restart. He spoke about this and about other items at Juventus Channel “Filo Diretto”.

"Staying out is always tough, especially for someone like me who never had such long-term injuries. This one passed quickly, I had no setbacks during my rehabilitation and I well recovered. I restarted training with the team, and I’m happy because I did every exercise without any problem. After a stop of a month and a half it’s always though restarting, you need a little time, but I feel better every day".

Grygera is ready to go back to a Juve who, in this month and a half, achieved very good results. Now Del Neri’s team has its own identity and everyone is starting to clearly see targets: "Our target is keep on working to improve, knowing we can beat anyone. This team can go very far and head to the best".

To do so, next challenge becomes a real crossroad. Va. Lazio, the bianconeri will be playing for a temporary second place. A challenge which will be played Sunday evening, therefore after all other matches has already ended.

"We must not be interested in this –Zdenek concludes -, we must focus only on our match. We are working only for the match vs. Lazio, we are living the waiting in the right way, with a close group. We are waiting for a great match this evening".

Working On Free Kicks

Juventus is preparing for their challenge vs. Lazio, scheduled for Sunday evening at the Olimpico in Torino. The bianconeri, also this time, trained in the morning, focusing their attention on free kicks. After warming up, and an exercise on ball conduction, the group worked on corners in offensive phase, then they focused on free kicks, attack against defense.

The mini-match 10 vs. 10 on half pitch ended this training session, which Sissoko and Lanzafame did not take part to. First one stayed in the gym for a personal workout, while the second was not able to train for a light flu.

Tomorrow, Juventus-Lazio’s eve, the team will train in the afternoon. Before training session, there will be mister Del Neri press conference; he will meet the journalists at 2.00 p.m. at Vinovo Media Center.

De Ceglie: "Targets Are Starting To Take Shape"

Paolo De Ceglie had a very busy day: the defender, after a morning personal workout to recover from the injury suffered during the match vs. Milan, said hallo to Juventus supporters through Tim’s official page on Facebook and then granted and interview to Juventus Channel:

"I do not know exactly when I’ll be back, but everything is going fine, so far. I’m having physiotherapy here in Vinovo and I hope I’ll be back within the end of January, or early February".

Staying out is always tough, but Paolo takes comfort from the very good results his mates achieved: "I’m being a supporter, watching all matches. The team is behaving very well, they keep on improving and targets are starting to take shape. The elimination from Europa League? We are sorry, because Juve is always heading to victory. It’s been a useful experience anyway, but now we must focus on Championship and Coppa Italia".

The Whole Group. Giovanna Trillini Meets The Black And Whites

An intense training session the one Juventus had this morning, when Del Neri had the chance to work with the whole group, except the long-term patients Buffon, Rinaudo, De Ceglie, Martinez and Amauri. Simone Pepe recovered from his flu and regularly trained with his mates.

The team had first a large warming up, then they split into two groups: defenders worked with Del Neri on tactics, while midfielders and forwards had some technical exercises, under Conti’s and D’Angelo’s supervision: first by a series of dribbles, then running and keeping the ball in narrow spaces. Afterwards, the whole team spent some time on playing with and without the ball.

Lastly, the group played a mini-match 11 vs. 11 on half pitch, during which Vincenzo Iaquinta did not play, as he went back to the gym for a personal workout. To follow the training session, also a special supporter: Giovanna Trillini. "I’ve always been a Juventus supporter, like all my family –the Azzurra multi-awarded fencer said -. I came here expressly from Jesi to watch the training session, because I liked the idea of observing also different training methods, which could be possibly adopted also for fencing".

Mrs. Trillini followed the whole session with attention and in the end she went on the pitch to say hallo to the players, wishing them “good luck” for their upcoming match vs. Lazio. "I like this Juve and I hope they will go far. My favorite player? Well, at this moment, the most exposed one is Krasic and, as a matter of fact, he’s showing he is a great champion. Anyway, I’ve always been a fan of Del Piero, also because our knees’ history is alike!". And Giovanna received and autographed jersey number 10 from Alex, and modeled for the classic photograph. A real meeting between world-beaters…

Del Piero: "Cynic, Solid And Compact Juve"

Alessandro Del Piero, through his official website, www.alessandrodelpiero.com, underlined the importance of the victory vs. Catania. The way it occurred it’s an important signal, also for next challenges, first of all the one vs. Lazio, next Sunday.

"I think you clearly saw our satisfaction at the end of the match in Catania, when we went celebrate the victory toward our supporters, after the final whistle. All victories worth three points, but there are some particularly important matches, considering the time they come and other matches’ results".

"We are coming from the draw in Poland, which meant the elimination from Europa League, and we played in Catania with the awareness of needing a victory to redeem and to stay right after Milan, who are not sleeping!".

"That’s why the three points gained in Catania are so heavy, mainly because we snatched them out from a team who never lost a home match in all 2010, and also yesterday they showed why. It was not easy: to win, the team had to be cynic, solid and compact, characteristics we must not lose from now on, because we are going to face other such important matches, like the one on next Sunday vs. Lazio, who are ahead of us in classification".

This Evening Catania vs Juventus (20:45)

From Poznan freezing weather to Catania warmth. Juventus dive back into the Championship with the strong intention to delete their delusion for Europa League elimination and to keep going up in classification.

But Bianconeri engagement is anything but easy: Catania is the only Serie A team to have always won on friendly ground, where they obtained 15 points, out of total 18 collected so far.
Not only: at the “Massimino”, the Sicilians are winning since 13th December 2009, when they were defeated by Livorno, and in this championship they have the second best home defense, having suffered only 3 goals.

Juve, from their part, have the most prolific attack and very respectful marching orders far from the Olimpico, embellished by last away matches: in fact, on the last three away matches, the bianconeri obtained two victories, vs. Milan and Genoa, spaced out by the draw in Brescia.

Moreover, there is a particularly reassuring statistic data for the bianconeri: on the matches vs. Catania trainer, Giampaolo, Juventus has always gained three points:  when he led Cagliari, as well as when he was leading Siena, Giampaolo has always been defeated and on five occasions, his teams suffered a total of eight goals.

Kick off is scheduled for 8.45 p.m. On Juventus.com all updates in real time with the Live Match.

Del Neri: 'This Juve Never Give Up"

So let’s go back to the Championship, well aware of being able to play an important role: "We need a well-established leader.  Milan and Lazio are doing important things, but for the time being, we all worth the same. We do all we can to achieve the best result, each Sunday, we did well so far and we are at classification’s third place. We had a difficult start, as expected, but then we found a good rhythm. Too many draws? Well, on home matches we drawn vs. Roma and Fiorentina, not two very little teams, and on away matches we achieved important victories".

Juve has improved a lot since the beginning of the season, but the growing process has not ended yet: "We need a little attention more. On the last two matches, we only suffered goals on free kicks, so we must focus more attention on that and we won’t suffer such goals".
Concerning the match vs. Catania, Del Neri underlines the match’s difficulties: "Catania has got nothing to lose and they are a very fast and well trainer team. They’ve got players able to kick to the goal, and we’ll find an atmosphere very similar to the one found in Genova, with supporters boosting the team from the first moment. There will be 30 degrees more than in Poland? I don’t know if this is going to be a problem, but also this one may be a heavy factor".
Juve will go to Catania without Marchisio and so it’s likely Del Neri is going to address to the two externals: "Sissoko’s and Claudio’s characteristics are different, and I think the solution with the two external players is the best".
