It's still verdict time at Euro 2008. With the games played Wednesday night, the first group phase has ended and the names of the eight teams who will fight for the trophy have been decided. The last team to qualify were Russia, who won against rivals Sweden and put them out.
So it's all over for Mellberg, after Grygera went out with his Czech Republic too. For both defenders, the 2007/08 season ends here. The next season will start in July for them (presumably the second week of the month), when they'll reach Ranieri and their team mates at the summer camp in Pinzolo.
Now we only have Buffon, Chiellini, Camoranesi and Del Piero left representing Juventus in Austria and Switzerland. The Italians, after defeating France, are preparing Sunday night's match against Spain (to be played in Vienna). This will be the last match of the quarter finals that start today with the Portugal vs. Germany fixture. Croatia vs. Turkey (on Friday) and Holland vs. Russia (on Saturday) will be the other games.
