The holidays are over. From tomorrow, Friday July the 4th, it's back to business. The new 2008/09-style Juventus will be taking their first tentative steps in what promises to be a long and exciting season.
First step, Vinovo: indeed at 12 pm the new strip will be unveiled there and there'll also be a press conference with Jean-Claude Blanc and Claudio Ranieri, with the whole event shown live on Juventus Channel.
From Saturday the 5th, words will leave the way for facts. The summer training camp begins, in Pinzolo, where the team will stay until the 16th. At first, not all the Bianconeri will be making their way to the Val Rendena. A still large 30-man squad, made up of some Youth Team lads too, will start training, whereas the players involved in Euro 2008 and the World Cup qualifiers will join their team mates according to a schedule which can be found further down the page.
The Trentino region is ready to welcome Juventus for the third consecutive summer. A busy schedule has already been prepared.
The team's first training session will take place at the Pineta ground on Saturday at 6 pm. As in the previous two years, the team will be staying at the Olympic Royal Hotel. All press conferences will be held at the local Fire Station.
Thanks to New Holland's commitment to the environmental cause, this will be Juventus' first “green” summer camp, as they have joined the “In gioco per l’ambiente” (“Playing for the environment”) programme, promoted by the FIAT Group's company, and aimed at compensating CO2 emissions at the summer camp with the planting of new trees in the Pinzolo area.
Juventus' camp in Pinzolo, from July 5th to the 16th, will include a series of side activities, apart from the training, which will make it more attractive to fans, as demonstrated by statistics pertaining last year, when approximately 50,000 people arrived in the area on the first weekend alone.
Next to the training ground, a Summer Village will be set up: a 2,500 square metre structure, able to host more than 3,000 people, which will be opened to the public on Saturday afternoon. Inside, Juventus' main sponsors will each have a stand, among them the Trentino region, a Nike Store and a stand dedicated to the Fondazione Crescere Insieme al Sant’Anna (Growing Up Together at the Sant'Anna charity Foundation). The main entertainment area will be around the stage, with its big screen, where official Juventus DJ NanĂ and Juventus Channel journalist Valeria Ciardiello will amuse and delight the fans, interacting with them. There will also be a game area. Everyday after the session a footballer will take the stage to meet and greet the fans.
The fun at the Summer Village will begin every day at 9 am, when people will be welcomed and the day's programme announced. At 10 am, the training session, shown live on Juventus Channel, will be broadcast on the screen. Between 1 and 2 pm there'll be background music. From 2 pm, people will be able to sign up for the games starting at 3 pm. At 6.30 pm, up on stage, team games of Juventus Trivial Pursuit and Name That Tune will kick off. The winning team will then meet the player of the day on stage. In the Summer Village there'll be an area for fun and games, with human foosball and a speed measuring device. There’ll also be a ticket office at the Summer Village, open from 9 am to 8 pm, where people will be able to buy tickets for the training sessions and the friendly matches. The office, just like the snack bars, will be managed directly by the Trentino tourist board.
Among this year's many engagements connected with charity and/or sponsors, a feast in the town square with all the team, coaches and management staff, scheduled for the evening of July 9th (at 9.15 pm), is surely not to be missed.
The summer camp activities are made possible thanks to the work of around 100 volunteers from the "Juventus Club Doc Mori e Pinzolo" and the local AC Pinzolo-Campiglio club.
During the summer camp period the team will play two friendly matches: Juventus vs. Mezzocorona (Pinzolo, July 11th) and Juventus vs. Piacenza (venue to be announced, July 16th).
