Blanc: "Squad Slmost Done. We Won't Be Signing Any More Forwards"
It's finally time to take off. The 2008/09 Juventus side has switched on the engines, ready to start a new and exciting season. It was up to Jean-Claude Blanc and Claudio Ranieri to introduce everyone to the new challenges ahead today in Vinovo.
Just days after his second anniversary as Juventus' Managing Director, Blanc can look back with pride at what the Club has achieved in recent months. And look to the future with great optimism.
"Our objective remains to aim for the best – Blanc declared -, we traced a route in the last two years and we aim to do better and better. In view of the new season, we analyzed the areas where we did well and those where we did less well, trying to improve on every front. We plan to do very well in all three competitions, and then we'll see what we can achieve".
It's July the 4th and Juventus are the second Serie A team (after Napoli) to start their pre-season training, right when the main focus of discussion is still on the transfer market. So asking Blanc to assess the situation was an obvious choice: "We started our transfer campaign back in January when we signed Mellberg and Sissoko. Amauri's signing has strengthened what was already the strongest attack last season and we're all done up front. The young players coming back from loans confirm the Club's strategy of renewal. Plus we've extended Nedved's contract for another year and renewed Chiellini's one. We're still looking for a reserve goalkeeper and a midfielder. To make our choice, we're taking many things into consideration, mainly concerning the technical aspect first and secondly the financial one. But one thing is clear: we already have a strong team".
