Camoranesi Awarded The “Castagna D’Oro”
Mauro Camoranesi was awarded the “Castagna D’Oro” (Golden Chestnut) by the Juventus Club Doc Mottarone in what was the 24th edition of the prestigious award. The gala evening was also attended by Claudio Marchisio, Alexander Manninger and Gianluca Pessotto.
"I am honoured to receive this award, especially after having read the names of those who were given this award before me". Mauro Camoranesi thanked the supporters who voted for him and then dedicated himself to answering questions made by journalists and regarding himself, the team and the upcoming match against Inter.
"Unfortunately I was out for too much time, but now the important thing is that I am available and ready to play as much as possible. The crisis? I think it was only a crisis of results, it can happen to any team".
When asked how crucial were the absences of certain players and how far this Juventus can go, Camoranesi said : "Our strength is having the right attitude with which to overcome any absences. It is difficult to say how far we can go, at the moment, but we will surely fight to the very end".
A comment on the upcoming match against Inter: "It is an important match, against the team heading the table. The difference between us? It’s too early to talk of values, presently we are three points behind them. Ibrahimovic? At the moment he is their most important player".
Another player to leave comments about the big-match was Alexander Manninger: "When one has played in Italy for many years it is normal to experience such a rivalry, but in reality it is a match that is worth three points just like any other. However, it will be a great match for which we are psychologically prepared".
Marchisio, who will be back to working fulltime with the squad as from the next training session sees the big match in this way: "It will not be any easy game because Inter is at the moment the team to beat. But Juventus has made lots of progress and we are going through a great period, ideal in order to achieve a good result in Milan".
