John Elkann Presents A Special Token For The New Stadium
The new Juventus stadium made its first official step during the evening’s presentation. Now down to work in order to have it finished by the Summer of 2011.
Two years and a half from that day, so long awaited by Juventus supporters, the new stadium received its first special present, presented by none less then engineer John Elkann.
The Fiat vice-president in fact brought along to the Giovanni Agnelli Auditorium a ball used in the 1950s: "It is a souvenir of the scudetto won by Juventus in 1950, when as team captain we had Giampiero Boniperti (present during the ceremony, ndr). It is a symbol of the past which must serve as a stimulus for the future. For this reason I would like it to be exhibited inside the new stadium, however up to that day, while waiting for the works to be completed, I would like Alessandro Del Piero to keep it."
The ball therefore ended up in the capaain’s hands who is ready to guard it until the inauguration day. "I feel honoured by this gesture – confessed Del Piero – and also to be p[art of this family which is Juventus. Up to 2011 me and my team mates will guard it together in the training centre and it will surely be a stimulus to make us attain new successes."
