Salihamidzic: "Juve-Milan: A Mini-Final"
Saturday 14th April 2008 is a date to remember for Hasan Salihamidzic. And how can it be otherwise when he was the protagonist of Juventus-Milan? After an opening goal by the infallible Alessandro Del Piero, ex-Juventus striker Inzaghi scored twice.
From then on the spot light shifted to him, at that time a new Juventus player: Brazzo first equalised and the scored the match winner for the final result of 3-2 and a good part of the qualification to the Champions League.
"For me – he recalls eight months after – it was a very important match, not only because of what it meant to the team but also as a sort of revenge on personal level, since the year before it was Milan who eliminated Bayern Munich from the Champions League. It was a really great satisfaction»".
Salihamidzic has no doubt about which of the two goals scored is his favourite: "Definitely the one I scored with a header, since it was more difficult".
Salihamidzic, who returned to training after an injury, spoke of Sunday’s big match: "Milan was already a strong team and with the arrival of Ronaldinho they gained in quality. They are doing very well, I think the team works. Even we’re going through a great period and therefore we are ready to play a game which is like a mini-final".
"At the moment we’ll be playing for the second place but on the long run to continue breathing down Inter’s necks. This is why it is very important to win".
