French Starter For 2009
On the day of the Epiphany, after a series of meals due to the Christmas festivities, the starter or antipasto for the second part of the season has a French aroma. Juventus are in Messina where they will play an international friendly against Monaco.
The match which will kick-off at the Stadio San Filippo at 18:00hrs should serve as a good warm-up for the second part of the season and a good test prior to the first official matches against Siena, Catania and Lazio.
For the friendly Ranieri will have Buffon and Poulsen back in the squad after both champions were forced to remain away from the field for a number of months.
Both coaches will have an unlimited number of substitutions and since the match is to award the trophy entitled “Città di Messina”, the match will be decided by penalties if the result is a draw at the end of the 90 minutes.
Juventus will therefore play in the first edition of this trophy after they inaugurated the stadium in 2004. All this to the delight of the many Juventus supporters in Sicily.
