Ranieri: "Following Our Dream"
"Udinese is a good team but they are going through a bad patch. They have high quality players however and will want to do well against Juve. We must therefore be ready and charged to fight because it is very important to obtain a good result".
Ranieri does not trust the crisis Udinese are going through. The friulani only won 3 points from the last 11 matches but the quality of Marino’s team is still high which is why it is difficult to explain such a negative period:
"I don’t think they explain it themselves either – continued Ranieri – There are years in which everything goes well and others when the team does not manage to express that which it is capable of ".
"On the other hand Pozzo’s club has been doing some great work for quite some time, discovering new talent which become champions. It seems like this years things are not going the right way".
Considering the number of matches within a short period, Ranieri might opt for a few changes at the Friuli:
"There are no matches in which one can make use of a general turn-over. Every match must be interpreted so as to try and obtain victory. We are there and we want to be there right till the end and therefore I will field the best possible formation without thinking of a turn-over".
The match against Udinese should however see the return of important players and for a change Ranieri will have a wide choice:
"Up to some time ago I was always either missing a defender or a midfielder and it was becoming hard to field the team. Now, even though they are still not all one hundred per cent fit, I began recovering important players and feel more at ease".
Following the controversies with regards to the last match day the subject shifts to refereeing. "A lot has been said about Gilardino’s goal because Marchionni’s heel kept the attacker on-side. Do you expect a lines-man to see it from a distance of 50 meters? That’s science fiction".
"Jovetic’s penalty? It was awardable just like that on Nedved against Lazio and yet on that occasion nobody complained. Last year there were so many decisions against us and the first penalty awarded to us came in the second round...We must learn how to extinguish these controversies".
Attention once again shifted to the next match day and Inter’s match away to Catania. Ranieri, however prefers not look at others: "We do not think of the others but of our performance against Udinese. We are following our dream".
Finally a thought goes to Amauri who once again was not called up by Brazilian coach Dunga: "Whatever Dunga may think I am happy by the fact that I have Amauri here at my disposal – smiled Ranieri – I am happy with his performances. The attackers live golden moments when they score one goal after another and others when they find it harder".
"Amauri always gives all he’s got, takes part in play and makes himself available for his team-mates. We had already observed these characteristics in him last year and now he is showing them here at Juventus".
