PRIMAVERA
At 15:00hrs Daud and friends will be seeking to book themselves a place in the final on Saturday. After having won their group and eliminated Lazio and Siena on route to the semis there is still one obstacle left before the final to be played on Monday : Torino.
Maddaloni’s team have had excellent performances up to now with Somali youngster Ayub Daud going through a really good goal-scoring phase with 6 goals in 5 matches and making himself a candidate for the “golden boy” award as best player of the tournament.
BRAKING NEWS: Juventus - Tornio 3-1
FIRST TEAM
The match against Palermo is a fundamental one and this was confirmed by Claudio Ranieri himself who also stated that Juventus are in the most crucial part of the season.
The rosanero are no easy team and this applies especially when they are playing at home at the “Renzo Barbera” stadium where their track record shows it is very hard to obtain three points (ask Milan and Roma in particular).
With a number of former Juventus players on the other side of the field such as Miccoli, Balzaretti and Cassani the rosanero will be even more determined to show all they are capable of doing.
Statistics favour Juventus however, who out of a total of 46 encounters won 27, drew 12 and lost 7. In Palermo the bianconeri won 8 times, drawing an equal number of times and losing 4 times out of the 20 encounters in total.
The last match in Palermo, that is last season, saw the rosanero beat the bianconeri 3-2 thanks to two goals by Amauri (then at Palermo) and a goal by former Juventus youngster Cassani in the last minute after Ranieri’s men had managed to equalise thanks to two goals by Del Piero.
The last Juventus victory at the Barbera dates back to the 2005/06 season when thanks to two goals by Mutu the bianconeri managed to equalise and turn the result in their favour after conceding to a Terlizzi goal.
