Agreement With Conad For The New Stadium
The new Juventus stadium, as was announced, will not only be a building for football which is innovative and unique in Italy but it will also be a meeting place where one can go 7 days a week. The idea and the project is always taking more of a shape and this time it’s thanks to the agreement reached between Juventus and Conad.
The distribution franchise has bought the commercial space – a total of 34,000m² in surface area – which forms part of the sporting complex and will thus assure a daily life which is not only limited to footballing activities.
The Nordiconad cooperative, which is one of the main parts of the Conad Group, will take care of the imposing commercial centre: a gallery with 60 points of sale, bars and restaurants, a E. Leclerc Conad mall, two big commercial non-food structures, offices, logistic services, green areas and parking lots. The business plan fore-sees an influx of 10,000 visitors per day, 800 new jobs and a total investment of €90 million for a shopping center which should generate 150 million euro per annum.
The building site which will start being developed in Autumn will involve 3,000 workers on two years. The inauguration is envisaged for September 2011.
The project was presented today in Turin during a meeting held at the Fondazione Sandretto and saw the participation of Jean-Claude Blanc, Juventus general manager, Aldo Pisano, Francesco Pugliese and Mauro Lusetti, the general director of Conad and the president and general manager of Nordiconad respectively, as well as architect Alberto Rolla, author of the architectural project of the Commercial Center.
"We have found a dynamic and reliable partner – underlined Jean Claude Blanc – who shares our common vision from which an innovative urban re-qualification project was born. The Juventus stadium will be the first building to be internally dedicated to football with a commercial space for families to spend their free time".
"It is not an English style of stadium but a Turin one. The demolition works should be finished by the end of March and the next step will be assigning of the contract for the construction works which will be finished together with those of the commercial center in the Summer of 2011".
"The new building will not be simply a “place” but a “super-place” with multiple functions – explained Mauro Lusetti – which amongst other things will guarantee new job opportunities. This is an extremely important fact during a moment of economic crisis".
"Our brand has once again chosen to invest in the future, inviting other commercial operators to experiment this route together with joined forces. We will be bringing to life a totally new locality which will be a laboratory in which we will work together on a great challenge in favor of the city and all the subjects involved".
"The initiative has no precedents in Italy and not only" commented architect Alberto Rolla, author of the commercial space project and of the urban insertion of the entire complex. "In Europe there are some examples of great stadiums which include commercial spaces but there is no structure up to now that wants to integrate all the other functions as from the first projection phases".
