It Is The Week Of Juventus-Roma
This week will be wearing bianconero (black and white) and giallorosso (yellow and red). Within four days Juventus and Roma will meet twice with their respective main formations: On Wednesday the Primavera for the Coppa Italia and on Saturday the first teams in the Serie A.
First it will be the turn of the youths. On Wednesday 18th March at 14:00hrs the Chisola in Vinovo will host the much awaited match valid for the second leg of the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia. The clash will see two of the best-equipped teams.
On the one side Massimiliano Maddaloni’s Juventus, fresh from the Viareggio triumph, leaders in their championship group (jointly with Siena but with a match in hand) and fresh from the 3-0 victory against Modena thanks to a hat-trick by Filippo Boniperti.
On the other side, Alberto De Rossi’s (father of Daniele) Roma, second in their group behind Lazio. The team drew 1-1 yesterday against the biancocelesti after Lazio.
The first leg ended in a 2-2 result in Trigoria thanks to two goals by Ciro Immobile. The result allows Castiglia and friends to begin with a bit of an advantage. The match will be rendered even more special thanks to the live transmission on Sky Sport 1. The emerging team will play in the final against the winners of the other semi-final between Genoa and Milan.
On Saturday it will then be the turn of the teams coached by Claudio Ranieri and Luciano Spalletti, two of the protagonists of this season and both fresh from an unlucky elimination in the Champions League. It will be the usual traditional big match notwithstanding the many injured players on both sides.
The match is a vital one for both teams. Juventus will want to keep-up with Inter who will be playing against the team at the bottom of the table, that is Reggina in a match valid for the 10th match day of the Serie A. Roma will be hunting for points to move up to the 4th place in the table which is only 2 points away.
This will be the 5th consecutive match played on Saturday for the after the ones against Palermo, Napoli, Torino and Bologna (all victorious) but also the last match before the break for the international matches in the last week of March.
