Primavera, A Draw Is Enough Against Samp
Six days after the Viraggio Cup final Juventus and Sampdoria met once again. This time the prize was “only” the leadership of Group A in the Primavera championship.
From the 4-1 result obtained on Monday the team managed to obtain a goalless draw which was still enough for the bianconeri. The point won in Genova allows Maddaloni’s team to consolidate its spot at the top of the table, 1 point away from the blucerchiati and with one game in hand as well as two points from Empoli who lost away to Livorno.
Maddaloni did not field the same team that played in Viareggio. The only players which played both matches were Pinsoglio, Ariaudo, D’Elia, Giovinco and Esposito. Alcibiade played as central defender, Ekdal and Pirrotta in central midfield, Curcio on the left and Libertazzi as only striker. Completing the line-up was a special “reinforcement”, Jonathan Zebina, who was seen on the field for the first time after the operation in November.
The Frenchman’s test went well playing for 75 minutes on the right. Zebina ran a lot and produced a number of good initiatives going close to scoring during the first half. This was the best part of the match for the bianconeri who put the hosts under pressure and going close to opening the score also thanks to Giovinco (a high ball put forward by Curcio) and Libertazzi (saved miraculously by Fiorillo). The second half was more balanced however Sampdoria hardly ever threatened the goal defended by Pinsoglio.
With the Viareggio Cup in the trophy cupboard and the leadership of the group kept, the Primavera will now prepare for the next match which is the first leg of the semi-final of the Coppa Italia away to Roma on Wednesday.
