Ranieri: "We Will Have To Field Our Best Determination"
The match against Inter also known as the Derby d’Italia is to say the least a traditional big match and this is reflected in Ranieri’s words during the press conference on the eve. IT is however, also clear that the Juventus coach is treating the match just like any other hurdle to overcome.
Asked whether the match against Inter could have effected the team’s concentration in the last two matches the Juve coach, answered:
"It could be that Juve thought a bit too much of Inter and that is exactly why I always insisted on thinking of one match at time." The tow teams will be meeting with a margin of 10 points between them but this has not undermined the determination of Mr. Ranieri:
"I didn’t change my opinion. We must try to win and see what that brings us. We must win to reduce the gap. Inter is a historical rival and we would like to win in front of our supporters. The team is charged up as it always is for this sort of match".
After the matches Juventus received quite some heavy criticism but the Juventus coach thinks otherwise of the team’s progress:
"I am happy with how the team is doing. It is true that in the last two matches we conceded 6 goals and this is not so good but we also scored 5 and if we were a bit more careful it would be a different story. We know perfectly well that we have a lot of work to do. That is why I insist that we had 2 good championships and this one is not over yet. All matches are really difficult when you approach the end of the season. My effort is to make the boys think in terms of wanting to win one match after another".
The Juventus coach was very clear about the past transfer market saying that he has no regrets and that the team is currently being re-built and therefore must improve constantly.
"We are to expect a difficult match against the usual Inter and we will have to field our best determination. Usually the team that wins the championship is a bit like the sprinting hare of the situation. We are in the middle of a re-construction phase. The gap for us is big and therefore this is an even stronger stimulus for us to improve and continue building. In a championship there are always positive and negative moments and the difference between Inter and us is that they managed to get the best out of all their negative moments".
The midfield will once again be missing Cristiano Zanetti who seemed to be able to make it for tomorrow’s match:
"Zanetti is always a bit of a boarder-line case. He tried to make it for this match but something went wrong and he will not make it. Usually the midfield counts a lot but there are other things that leave their mark on the outcome of the match. I have never complained of absentees before and I will not do so now".
Ranieri and Mourinho have been often seen as rivals but the Juventus coach being the gentleman that he is declared he will be shaking hands with the Inter coach prior to the match adding that he thinks that Mourinho brought great defensive organization to Inter in contrast with that of Mancini:
"He also adapts well to circumstances. There are great coaches in Italy, some of which have less experience then Mourinho".
The coach also spoke of Diego saying he thinks he is doing well and of Gigi Buffon about whom he stated: "Gigi is always Gigi. He is always the number one goalkeeper and if it were up to me I would not sell him even for a 100 million Euro".
