Azzurrini Win And Qualify For Semi-Finals
Giovinco, Marchisio, De Ceglie and company continued to keep the Italian flag flying high as they beat Byleorussia 2-1 winning the group and qualifying for the semi-final.
The starting line-up included all three bianconeri with De Ceglie forced to leave the field on the 14th minute due to injury being replaced by Dessena. On the 20th minute it was Marchisio who forced the keeper to a great save following a powerful shot from outside the area.
Italy had a number of chances with the defence clearing twice from the goal line but on the 45th minute it was the Byelorussians who went ahead thanks to Kislyak who surprised all. Two minutes later, during stoppage time Italy drew thanks to a penalty scored by Aquafresca following a handsball in the area.
The second half began with Italy on the attack and Aquafresca missing a couple of sitters and hitting a post. To top it all Marchisio was shown a yellow card on the 50th minute and will miss the next match.
Italy continued to attack and Giovinco saw the goalkeeper deny him a golden chance of score on the 70th minute. On the 75th minute Italy made it 2-1 once again thanks to Aquafresca following some great work by Giovinco and Candreva. Four minutes later the Atomic Ant hit the bar following a great attempt from outside the area.
