The Under 21 Team Prepares For European Cup
On the menu of football in June it is not only the Confederations Cup to be held in South Africa that features. On the other side of the world, in another hemisphere, in Sweden, the Under 21 European Cup will take place with three Juventus players called up by Casiraghi: Marchisio, De Ceglie and Giovinco.
The hope is that of improving on the result of the 2007 tournament held in Holland, when Italy was eliminated during the group phase. The azzurrini coach also called-up Lorenzo Ariaudo for the pre-tournament camp. In order to prepare for the tournament and get accustomed to the atmospheric conditions of the Nordic summer, the azzurrini will play a friendly against Denmark on the 9th of June in Farum, at the Farum Park stadium against the local national side which did not qualify for the final phase.
The European championship will start officially on the 15th of June with the matches of Group B: England-Finland and Spain-Germany. Italy was drawn in Group A with Byelorussia, Serbia and Sweden and will play the first match on the 16th against the Serbs. The second match will played against the Swedish hosts on the 26th with the two group winners meeting in the final on the 29th of June at the Swedbank Sradion in Malmoe.
