Chiellini: "We Are Working To Win"
Juventus is not only in France to play the second seasonal friendly in Platini’s birthplace but a big portion of the team is in Pinzolo working hard and sweating. This part is made up of the international players who arrived a few days ago but were immediately put to the athletic tests of Massimo Neri.
It is important to build the stamina and recuperate with regards to the other players who have been at work for more then a week. The will however is strong and in the season leading to the world cup nobody wants to leave things to chance.
Amongst the bianconeri who are running long distances at the Centro Sportivo Pineta to the joy of the Juventus fans who went to Val Rendena, there is Giorgio Chiellini. The defender arrived at another crossroad in his career. Doing well with Ferrara’s Juventus and Lippi’s national side in South Africa would be a definite consecration for him.
There is still time to think of the national team, however and at the moment there is only Juventus on Giorgio’s mind. A black and white thought which is becoming more luminous every day:
"The team is taking shape. We changed a lot: there is a new staff, a different scheme to try out and other important players who made the group stronger. At the moment we are an open worksite with much to do. In the initial stages it will be only normal to have some difficulties with regards to adaptation to the new scheme. We were used to playing with a 4-4-2 formation which we knew by heart and now we have to adapt. If we’ll enjoy ourselves more this year? Personally I enjoy myself only when we win".
Juventus will start-off with a new formation, therefore – a more offensive one in comparison to the traditional. The defence was strengthened with the return of Cannavaro, a strong point according to Chiellini:
"Fabio, Legrottaglie, Ariaudo and myself will have many matches to face and therefore we will have the chance to recover when we’re tired alternating like we did last year with Mellberg. Ferrara can give us a helping hand with his experience in the role, but we must remember that in a team everybody has to defend".
Thus, at the starting blocks of the season we will have a Juventus determined to do well. According to the forecasts of the defender from Livorno, the bianconeri are front-liners but still not in pole position.
"Inter is still a step ahead considering the superiority shown in these years but if Ibrahimovic were to leave it would be an advantage for us. To be able to say we’re superior we must shown prove it on the field, with facts and not with proclamations".
