Champions League, Bianconeri Second Seed
While waiting to know the names of the 32 teams participating, Juventus already knows how they will be seeded on the day of the group draws to be held in Montecarlo on the 27th August.
The bianconeri are already sure of being amongst the teams seeded second. This was confirmed at the end of the return matches of the third qualifying round which were played on Tuesday 4th and Wednesday 5th August.
The news came from Timisoara, where the local team assured qualification after eliminating Shakhtar Donetsk. The Ukrainian team was amongst the four teams playing in the preliminaries which had a ranking which was better then that of the bianconeri.
Following Shakhtar’s elimination, Juventus guaranteed itself at least the 16th place in rank and will therefore be amongst the 8 teams seeded second.
Ciro Ferrara’s team already knows its destiny with regards to the draws and now it must only await the 27th of August to know the names of the first three opponents it will be playing against in the group stage.
At this point the matches on the 18/19 and the 24/25 August lose some interest. Below is the detailed table of the 10 matches which emerged from the urn in Nyon following the draw held this morning.
