(Chievo - Juventus 1-0) Juve Lose Away To Chievo For The First Time
Ciro Ferrara is restricted for choice as he fields the now traditional 4-3-1-2 formation with Paolucci making his debut for the first team right from the start of the match.
Chievo show an aggressive attitude and on the first minute Buffon saves as the home team tries a first attempt. Seconds later, The Chievo defence blocks a shot after a good Juve counter-attack.
On the 4th minute, a good Grygera cross into the area is brought out by the defence. Seven minutes later, there is a free-kick for Juve: Diego puts the ball into the area and the defence heads our for a corner. From the flag the ball is cleared by the defence.
The 12th minute sees a free-kick for Juve after a foul on Paolucci: Del Piero's ball is deflected but goes out for a goal kick. Four minutes later. Juve benefit of a corner: Diego puts the ball in but the referee spots a foul in attack.
It is the 18th minute when Buffon leaves the area to clear on Granoche. Six minutes later, Melo does well to clear a very dangerous ball into corner. The defence clears the ball put into the area from the flag.
On the 28th minute, first a dangerous ball into the area is cleared by the Juve defence and then a Chiellini own goal is disallowed as the referee spots a foul on the defender who is pulled by his jersey. One minute later, Zebina comes on for Grygera.
The 33th minute sees Chievo open the score: a powerful Sardo cross beats Buffon for the 1-0. Two minutes later there is a corner for Juve but the ball cleared by the defence. On the 41st minute a ball into the Juve area is cleared by Chiellini.
It is the 43rd minute when a Luciano cross goes luckily wide. On the second of 4 minutes of stoppage time allotted by the referee, there is a free-kick for Juve: Diego puts a dangerous ball into the area and Marchisio is blocked as he is about to shoot.
On the 48th minute there is a corner for Juve: ball into the area cleared once again for a kick from the flag. The second time the ball reaches Grosso who heads but Sorrentino holds on. The teams leave the field for the break on a 1-0 score for the gialloblu.
Juve begin the first half seeming very determined. On the 4th minute there is a free-kick for Juve: Diego puts the ball into the area but Sorrentino punches away. One minute later, a through ball into the area by Zebina is a bit too long for Diego.
On the 7th minute, Diego enters the area and tries to put in a low ball but the pass is intercepted. One minute later, a Sardo handsball in the area is ignored by the referee who signals to play on.
The 12th minute sees Salihamidzic come on for Grosso. Two minutes later, there is a corner for Juve as a De Ceglie cross is deviated: Marchisio's ball goes wide. On the 16th minute, a Pinzi cross is caught by Buffon. Seconds later, there is a free-kick for Juve: Diego's ball is swung into the area but cleared by the defence.
It is the 17th minute when there is another free-kick for Juve: Diego puts a low ball in but it's driven away by Marcolini and two minutes later a Paolucci shot is blocked. Diego is fouled again just outside the area and Juve awarded a free-kick: Del Piero puts it towards goal but Sorrentino manages to grab hold.
The 24th minute sees Zebina receiving an elbow blow and a cut to his head by Granoche. Cannavaro is also hit in the face some time later.
On the 29th minute there is a free-kick for Juve: Diego puts the ball in but it is finally cleared by the defence. Another free-kick for Juve two minutes later: ball into the area towards Cannavaro who heads but Sorrentino gathers.
The 37th minute sees Immobile coming on for Chiellini. The referee awards 5 minutes of stoppage time and on the 2nd a Melo shot goes very high. Juve try to pile on the pressure but nothing seems to go the right way and Juve suffer another defeat and the first ever at the Bentegodi against Chievo.
