Ferrara: "I Demand Attention And Humility"
It is the eve of the first match of the second round for Juventus who tomorrow will be playing against Chievo. Below are the highlights of Ciro Ferrara’s press conference.
Paolucci. I saw him in a good condition. It is a great satisfaction for him to return and is highly motivate. This would be the case for anyone, let alone for him who made his first steps in the Juventus youth sector.
Coming back to be in the top category is of great satisfaction. He can give us a great helping hand. There are many thing in his favour from quite a few appearances to many goals. Lately he did not have great satisfactions but he has been through beautiful moments.
Besides statistics his capaibilities give him the possibility of taking this chance and with humility he can win himself enough space. If he will be in the starting line-up in Verona? He just arrived and is one more solution I have.
Difficult away match. Without taking anything away from Parma, this away match is more difficult because for me the next matches are aways the most difficult. It is a delicate match against a team which is well physically even though they are coming from a number of negative results. I do not trust mt friend Di Carlo. It will be hard.
What he asks of the team. I demand the attention, spirit and mentality which I saw in so many matches including the last Coppa Italia one against Napoli. Attention and humility which is necessary especially in the big teams.
Pellissier’s absence. He is a very dangerous attacker and has the right characteristics to put any defence in difficulty. For them he will be an important absentee but for us it hardly changes anything. The fact that Pellissier is missing cannot be considered an advantage.
It will only be so if we are clever and manage to take advantage of their weaknesses and pay attention to teh defensive phase. In his absence there will be other attackers with different characteristics which will still create difficulties for us.
Buffon’s return. It is useless to spens words in praise of a world champion. Obviousy it is an important return , even though I, when he was injured, said that Manninger would have contributed and this was the case. It is obvious the Buffon is the best and his role in undebatable but I would like to thank Alex for what he did and what he shall be doing.
The second round is about to begin. What are the objectives? One most always set objectives and he must always try to improve to reach the maximum objective. There may be certain shortcomings but this must not make us change mentality.
Scudetto? Many points are keeping us away from the top of the table and the greatest mistake would be to watch those who are ahead of us. We want to get to the bottom of things and be able to play for the title like the others. Behind us there is a whole mix but we must not look there either. We must only think of ourselves.
Grosso. He had difficulties like the othes had but obviously since he is new he was under the spotlight and attracted more criticism. He played good matches and others a bit under tone. Sometimes paerhaps we did not take advantage of his characteristics but he can give us a great helping hand.
Iaquinta. He is alternating between complete and seperate training sessions. His recovery is proceeding but won’t be on the field in a week’s time.
Racism and violence. I am against any form of racism and violence. Unfortunately we are living in a football culture which is linked to then result. If you do well everything is fine otheriwise you will have problems. This is with regards to the team. When it comes to the supporters, we are still very much behind.
They think more of insulting the opponents then of supporting their team. In England there are teams who even though are relegated, the players go towards the stands and they are applauded by the supporters: when we get to this stage then we would have made an improvement. Playing with one stand closed like against Roma is a defeat for everyone. The club did all it could to avoid this type of behaviour by its fans but Italian law of objective responsibility penalizes the club.
