Euro 2012: Group Phase Drawn.
As from today the 2012 European Championship is closer. The continental competition which will be played in Poland and Ukraine today saw its first steps. In Warsaw, in the presence of UEFA present Michel Platini, the draws of the group phase were made.
The 51 teams which will be taking part were divided into 9 groups. Let us have a look at how things turned out for the bianconeri who will be taking part.
Italy was drawn in Group C with Serbia, Northern Ireland, Slovenia, Estonia and Faroe Islands.
Grygera’s Czech Republic was drawn in Group I with current holders Spain, Scotland, Lithuania and Liechtenstein.
Poulsen’s Denmark was drawn in Group H with Portugal, Norway, Cyprus and Iceland.
Trezeguet’s France was drawn in Group D with Romania, Bosnia Herzegovina, Byleorussia, Albania and Luxembourg.
Out of the 9 groups 14 teams will qualify and join Poland and Ukraine (hosts) in the finals. The qualifiers will begin in September 2010 and will last until October 2011 promoting 10 teams (the 9 group winners and the best runner-up). In November 2011 play-offs to decide the last four teams to qualify from amongst the other runners-up will take place.
