After the prologue with the Super Cup on the 21st August at the San Siro, the Serie A will kick-off on August 29th with the first championship day. This was announced by the Lega di Serie A who launched the dates for the 2010/2011 season.
There will be 4 mid-week match days (Wednesday 22nd September, Wednesday 10th November, Thursday 6th January and Wednesday 2nd February) and 5 breaks: Sunday 5th September, Sunday 10th October and Sunday 27th March due to the international qualification matches for Euro 2012; Sunday 26th December and Sunday 2nd January due to the Christmas break. The end of the championship will be on Sunday 22nd May.
With regards to the Coppa Italia, the first round will be played on Sunday 8th August, the second on Sunday 15th August, the third on Wednesday 17th October and the fourth on Tuesday 30th November.
The round of 16 will be played on Thursday 9th December or Tuesday 14th December or Wednesday 12th January; the quarter-finals in Wednesday 26th January, the semi-finals on Wednesday 20th April (1st leg) and Wednesday 11th May (2nd leg) and the final on Sunday 29th May or Saturday 11th June.
