Del Piero Fires Up The Summer Village
He took the stage with a camera in hand and for once he was the one taking the photos instead of being the protagonist. Alessandro Del Piero met the people at the Summer Village in Pinzolo after the afternoon session generating uncontrollable enthusiasm.
Many were the chants for the captain and many were the questions made by the public which Alex gladly answered: "I am well and I am ready to get back to the group within one or two days", he said with regards to his physical condition.
This is his 18th summer camp and every time there were things which were different and others which were constant – explained Alex. "There has always been one constant however: the Juve jersey and I am happy to have spent 18 years like this. Many dreams came true for me, dreams which I chased with a passion and a great will and I am happy with my life".
Alex then explained what are the duties of a captain: "Besides the institutional ones, a captain must have a sense of duty and be a point of reference for his team mates, the supporters and the press… I am lucky to have many team mates who, due to their personality and their sense of responsibility could be themselves captains and this made my task easier".
With regards to Del Neri, Del Piero had very positive feedback: "He has clear ideas and is very strict in his orders. He has the experience and all the right cards to do well. That is what we hope".
A supporter asked him what he thinks of the social networks and Alex stated: "I opened one about two months ago, I follow it with a passion, we are many and I am happy. I think they are splendid way with which to keep in touch with the world".
Finally his opinion with regards to the World Cup final: "Spain has a slightly better chance but in a final this does not count. It is one match and anything can happen".
After answering the questions, Alex descended amongst the supporters to sign autographs and this time it was the public who brought out their cameras to take photos of the captain.
