Determination And Good Play Defeated Held By Bad Luck
Del Neri fielded a 4-4-2 formation with Quagliarella and Del Piero as attacking duo and Pepe and Krasic on the wings.
Juventus started off really well determined with their supporters driving them forward. On the 3rd minute a Marchisio cross is just missed by Pepe who tries to head. One minute later, Cassano misses a sitter to the relief of the Juventus fans.
Del Piero with a beautiful series of dribblings sees his shot deviated into corner: From the flag the ball is put into the area but is cleared by the defence on the 9th minute. Two minutes later, a De Ceglie cross goes straight into the arms of the keeper.
On the 13th minute, Krasic heads a ball into the area which crosses the whole goal line but finds nobody to push it in. One minute later, Storari saves well on Cassano.
Juve try to move forward and on the 14th minute, a Quagliarella shot is deviated into corner: from the flag Del Piero puts the ball into the area but the referee stops the action for off-side.
It is the 15th minute when there is a free-kick for Samp: ball headed away by Bonucci but Samp try again with the ball going wide. Six minutes later, Melo slips and Juve are caught on the counter-attack but Storari makes a great save one on one on Pozzi.
Juve suffer the effect of the fright and take some time to recover but on the 22nd minute, there is a cross into the area towards Quagliarella who tries an overhead kick missing the ball. Six minutes later, a cross towards Krasic sees the Serbian blocked by the defence.
A Quagliarella shot goes well high over the bar on the 29th minute and seconds later a De Ceglie low ball into the area is saved by the keeper.
The 31st minute sees Krasic winning a good ball and putting it towards Quagliarella but the defence manages to intervene in time. One minute later there is a corner for Samp: ball into the area cleared by the defence. A Pepe cross towards Del Piero in the area is cleared by Zauri on the 33rd minute.
On the 35th minute a Cassano run and conclusion sees the Juve keeper well placed. One minute later, a feint by Koman and a Pozzi shot sees the Juve defence beaten for the opener: 0-1.
The 38th minute sees a Krasic cross into the area and a Pepe header is saved by the keeper. One minute later there is a free-kick for Juve: Del Piero sees the ball go just wide.
On the 41st minute a Marchisio shot finds 2 players off-side but two minutes later, Krasic heads a ball towards Marchisio who shoots home for the equalizer:1-1.
The 44th minute sees a free-kick for Juve: Pepe crosses towards Quagliarella who heads wide. The first half ends after 1 minute of stoppage time on a 1-1 draw.
The second half sees Juve start off with a bang. On the 5th minute, a Krasic cross finds Curci who manages to save but Pepe manages to push it in for the 2-1. One minute later there is a corner for Juve: Del Piero puts the ball into the area. From the rebound a Pepe shot knocks Lucchini to the ground.
On the 9th minute, Quagliarella tries a lob to surprise Curci but the keeper manages to makes the ball his. Two minutes later, a A Del Piero spectacular attempt goes wide.
The quarter of an hour mark sees Krasic with a great run of over 45 metres enter the area but does not manage to put the ball past Curci. From the rebound Quagliarella puts the ball high over the bar.
A Motta cross into the area sees a Pepe header saved by the keeper on the 16th minute and one minute later, there is a free-kick for Juve: Del Piero's attempt goes just wide.
Juve seem to have taken the match in hand but on the 19th minute, there is a corner for Samp after an Obiang attempt is deviated: from the rebound the ball reaches Cassano which Storari does not manage to save: 2-2.
On the 21st minute, Krasic tries to put a ball towards Del Piero but the defence intercepts. Two minutes later, Pepe recieves a ball and is unlucky to hit the post but Quagliarella is well placed and posts it in for the 3-2.
It is the 25th minute when Pepe tries a conclusion from a difficult angle with Curci who manages to save. One minute later, there is a free-kick for Samp: Palombo puts the ball well high over the bar. Seconds later, a Krasic shot from outside the area is saved by the keeper.
Juve are dominating and yet on the 28th minute, Pozzi surprises the Juve defence on a Marilungo cross beating Storari for the 3-3. Grygera comes on for Motta on the 31st minute.
A Felipe Melo attempt hits Obiang on the 32nd minute and one minute later Iaquinta comes on for an excellent Krasic while Aquilani comes on for Pepe. On the 37th minute, a Del Piero cross sees Quagliarella missing the ball by a hair.
Juve continue to search for the match winner and on the 38th minute, Curci performs a miracle putting a Iaquinta conclusion into corner. From the flag Felipe Melo sees his header grazing the post! Unlucky.
On the 40th minute there is a free-kick for Samp: ball put into the area finally brought out by Melo.
After 4 minutes of stoppage time and a Felipe Melo header which goes high over the bar in the dying seconds of the match, the referee sounds the final whistle.
Juve gave a great performance scoring the lead twice and being defeated only by bad luck notwithstanding the good play shown.
