Marotta: "We Always Head To The Maximum"
The day after the match vs. Sampdoria, Giuseppe Marotta spoke by phone during “Radio Anch’io Sport” program, live on Radio Rai. Sport Department General Manager dealt with many items. From the match vs. the blucerchiati to the market, from Juventus seasonal perspectives to how Serie A 2010/11 first matches are going. And here are his answers.
We are realistic. "Juventus goes on the pitch to win, always, and to obtain the best, but we are realistic and respectful toward all our supporters. During summer we carried on a great renovation, not a revolution. Yesterday, on the pitch, there were 6/11 new players so we need time. In this moment it would utopist to make programs, Del Neri’s got the right humility, he does not want to damage Juventus supporters’ respect and its winning DNA".
Who spends more does not always win. "This summer we had to put sport needs and economic needs together. We followed the Club’s guidelines, lowering the average age and the salary cap, according to the financial fair play Platini asked for".
"The missing participation to the Champions League took fewer profits and so we had fewer possibilities to intervene to engage champions. But this does not mean Juventus is not headed to great results. The axiom “if you spend more, you gain more” is not true, in this moment we are interested in creating a winning spirit in our group. Championships cannot only be won because of Champions but also with the sense of belonging".
We valorize our resources. "Yesterday we saw Cassano and Palombo playing, who confirmed to be very important players and for this they are the National Team’s pivots. But both, just like Pazzini, are Sampdoria’s players and we do not want to create problems. Also Juventus has got internal resources to be valorized. Technical quality level is good and in the front we have guys such as Iaquinta and Amauri".
Finding a defensive balance. "To confirm that the attack works fine, the fact that we always scored so far. Yesterday we scored three times and we could have scored more. Unfortunately we suffered as many, confirming that we find it difficult to find a right defensive balance, not to score".
The championship is still so long. "Important teams’ difficult moment? Roma started the same way last year and then, they almost won the Championship. When the Championship starts, provincial teams always play at ease and this can cause some problems, thanks to their motivations, willing to win and running. But the Championship is still so long".
