Quagliarella: "Proud To Be Here"
After two weeks with Juve and with just over 3 training sessions with his mates, Fabio Quagliarella is ready for his second match with Juventus. After the unfortunate debut in Bari, the striker from Naples will be playing against Sampdoria, one of his former teams, the one with which he made his breakthrough thanks to a series of splendid goals.
Two days after the return from the national team and as many from the match against the doriani, Quagliarella spoke on Sky Sport 24, speaking not only of the next match but also of the last period as a bianconero:
"I joined a great club, the most glorious one that exists. This for me cannot but be a reason to be proud to wear this jersey. I know that there is great responsibility and one must give the maximum in every match. Unfortunately I will not be able to play in European matches but I will do everything to contribute to the championship and win something important".
It is a new team but also a new reality for the lad from Naples. However it is also an experience shared with many known faces and not only when it comes to his team mates:
"Marotta knows me since the times at Sampdoria, both as a player and as a person. I had always an excellent relationship with him and this influenced my decision to come here. Besides, I shared the experience with the national team with many of my team mates. The coach I have not really got to know yet. Since I arrived here I hardly trained yet with the team. Turin? I lived here at the time when I played for Torino. I think it has changed and immproved. It is really a beautiful city".
Now the moment of the first contact with the new supporters is near. After the debut in Bari it is time for the first home match. The Olimpico will be hosting Samp, a team which Fabio knows really well.
"I am always happy to play against Sampdoria. I have a splendid memory of that experience, of the city, the supporters and the environment. With the blucerchiati I made my break through but on Sunday I will do all I can to win and to score. Did I speak of the match with Cassano? No, with the national team we only thought of the two matches we were about to play. Nobody wanted to leave a bad impression. Only before leaving did we say we’d meet on Sunday".
Besides the symbolic value of the match, that against the formation from Liguria is really important for Juventus. After the match in Bari, everyone wants to make up and collect the first 3 points in the championship.
"In Bari things could have been better and besides we played with a player less for most of the second half. I do not want to find excuses but we had never trained together. We all know time is necessary but we have to be clever enough to understand what the coach wants from us. The other teams will not wait for us and therefore the sooner we understand the better. Personally I like Del Neri’s way of playing because the two strikers give value to my characteristics".
