"Juventus is the most important team we have ever played against". Both coach Jacek Zielinski and experienced defender Bartosz Bosacki answered in unison during the press conference at the Olimpico.
The Poles entered a stadium, which when it was still called Comunale, saw their conational Zibi Boniek achieve great things, especially in the night cup ties. Juventus-Lech Poznan will also take place at night. The first match of the Europa League Group A represents a great deal on image level for the Polish team and they hope it will not remain just this.
On the eve of the match, coach Zielinski showed optimism: "We know Juventus is one of the historical teams in European football and even though they cannot count on the champions who played for the club recently, they have younger players and others of great value like Bonucci, Chiellini, Krasic, Felipe Melo, Pepe and Del Piero. Many of our players never played such matches and are excited but this does not mean we will play the spectators. We have respect for our opponents but we came here to try our chances and try to win".
Having turned 35, Barotsz Bosacki is one of the most experienced players of the team. He is surely an important presence for Lech notwithstanding some last minute doubts: "If I am here it means that I am well but we’ll have to wait and see whether I’ll play tomorrow. In the past I played against teams like Barcelona and Olympique Marseille and this is why I say that we have all the characteristics to compete against anyone. Besides, in Poznan we have a nice stadium and therefore we are not embarrassed of hosting great clubs like Juventus".
