Pieluigi Casiraghi’s azzurrini managed to beat the Swedish hosts of the European Cup and move to the top of Group A with four points.
As in the match against Serbia the starting line-up saw the presence of all three bianconeri: De Ceglie, Marchisio and Giovinco with all three having a good performance especially Giovinco who was inspiring to the team and who was also the brains behind the first goal scored by Balotelli on the 23rd minute.
A few minutes after the goal however (precisely on the 38th minute) saw a useless foul by the Inter striker leading to a direct red card and forcing the azzurrini to play with one man less for approximately 52 minutes.
Notwithstanding this on the 53rd minute Italy scored a second thanks to Aquafresca and even though the Swedish did try all in their power to equalise the closest they got to doing this was when they score the 2-1 on the 89th minute, a score which was maintained until the final whistle.
