Trofeo Berlusconi On Monday

Another traditional summer match is that of the Trofeo Berluscni which sees Juventus playing against Milan in the last friendly match before the start of the official season.

This year the match will be played on Monday at 20:30hrs and Ferrara’s team will be playing against Leonardo’s side a mere two days after the bianconeri beat the rossoneri 2-0 in the Trofeo Tim.

The match has become somewhat of a tradition with the bianconeri and the rossoneri having played against each other in 16 out of the 19 editions (this year’s included) since the first time in 1991.

The bianconeri won the trophy 8 times taking home the very first edition thanks to two goals by Pierluigi Casiraghi. (2-1). Last year, however it was Milan who won the trophy with a 4-1 final score (the only goal for Juventus was scored by youngster Pasquato).

An anecdote linked to the trophy is the theory that whoever wins the match does not lift the Serie A title. After breaking the jinx of the Trofeo Tim, Ferrara’s team will surely want to break this too winning both titles.
