The first long week is about to end, a week that has been exceptional for Juventus in terms of results, thanks to wins over Udinese and Zenit, but really bad under a medical point of view, with Camoranesi and Del Piero suffering mild injuries, but especially with Trezeguet set to be out for a long time.
In Cagliari, Juventus will play their third League game, the first game of many to be played without the Frenchman, who will be missing for four months, as announced by Dr. Agricola. A bad loss for Ranieri and for the team:
"David is goals personified – the Manager commented during today's press conference –, the reigning deputy top scorer, and not having him available for such a long time creates problems for me. Unfortunately we weren't expecting this, but these things can happen during a season".
The Bianconeri will play at the Sant’Elia without Trezeguet, Del Piero and Camoranesi, as well as Zanetti and Zebina. In any event, Ranieri knows he can count on whoever will be playing.
"Ale, Mauro and David wouldn't have played anyway. These players missing will give a chance to those who've played less to show their worth. Giovinco could be used as a striker and Amauri has showed he doesn't get nervous even at international level".
An absolutely competitive Juve line-up will play in Sardinia, then, trying to win again like they did last year in an exciting match, but also trying to improve on that, as Ranieri himself pointed out:
"In the last League season, the games against Cagliari were both very hard and we played badly both at home and away. Now we face a side that have lost twice, but they played a great first half against Lazio, scoring first. That's why we need to be careful and alert. Besides, one thing we have to improve is how we fare against medium-level teams, while at the same time continuing to take points from the big teams".
