The first Champions League match, the one played last Wednesday against Zenit, will influence the away game at Cagliari. Claudio Ranieri will indeed have to do without Mauro German Camoranesi, Alessandro Del Piero and David Trezeguet for the game in Sardinia, valid for Day 3 of the League, as they all suffered injuries during the match against the Russian side.
As announced yesterday, the player in worst condition out of the three is the Frenchman, who will need to undergo surgery in the next few days to solve his right kneecap hamstring problem. In an interview with Juventus Channel, Dr. Riccardo Agricola confirmed that David's recovery will take approximately four months.
Camoranesi's and Del Piero's situation is less complicated; they'll rest until Monday, when they will be training again to prepare Wednesday's midweek game at the Olimpico against Catania.
Zanetti and Zebina are still on the injured players list; coincidentally, both players used to play for Cagliari. The midfielder is recovering and should be in the squad again in 7-8 days' time. The Frenchman will stay out longer, as he's going to need 20-30 more days.
Claudio Ranieri has called back Fausto Rossi for the away game in Sardinia. Therefore a 21-man squad will be taking the trip.
