Ranieri : "It Will Be A Difficult Match Against Zenit"
From Zenit to Zenit. It was against the Russians that Juventus began their adventure in the Champions League and it is against the Russians that they will be playing their final away match in this round. In St. Petersburg , Juventus who have already qualified for the next stage will be seeking to end in the top spot of Group H.
Following the draw in Minsk against Bate and the great success at the Bernabeu, Ranieri’s men will be trying their luck in the freezing Petrovsky Stadium. In lieu of the match was the usual press confrence by coach Ranieri and captain Del Piero.
"We know the difficulty that awaits us – commented the coach – I saw the last match that Zenit played against Spartak Moscow and I saw a great team that is in good condition and which against us will be seeking to qualify for the next round. A difficult match awaits us".
A difficult opponent (UEFA Cup and Super Cup holders) who is very highly motivated. This is enough to make the match a tricky one but to make matters even harder is the freezing weather of Saint Petersburg and the number of injured players.
"We will try to adapt during the last training session – continued Ranieri -, seeing the low temperature we will have to check the conditions of certain players, Camoranesi in particular. With regards to the injuries, I hope the unlucky period is over, even Zanetti and Poulsen are close to recovery. For tomorrow’s match I don’t think that the couple at the centre of the midfield will change".
The match against Zenit is just three days after the match at the San Siro which brought to an end the seven-match winning streak which began in the Champions League match against Real. It is from Russia that Ranieri’s team want to begin the come-back:
"Inter beat us and we complemented them. We must try to look ahead with optimism, knowing that we must go on working to reach our objectives".
