Amauri: "Let Us Think Of The Other Competitions"
Disappointment but also a great will to get back. With the adventure having come to an end notwithstanding two good performances against Chelsea, the bianconeri are already thinking of the future. The 2008/09 season is still far from finished and in the two remaining months, there are still two competitions to honour.
In the championship, the 7 point margin from Inter leave the possibilities open, considering the direct encounter in Turin in mid-April. In the Coppa Italia, the final is not so unreachable after the 2-1 defeat away to Lazio last week. On the 22nd of April, the day of the return match, we will know whether Juventus will have obtained the pass to the final.
"We still have 2 competitions to play for and we have not intention of giving up on anything" are the words of Amauri and the best way of facing the future.
The Brazilian had his first experience in the Champions League and ended up with two goals (one of which during the preliminary stage against Artmedia and a splendid one against Real at the Olimpico) which he will add to the great experience baggage which is becoming even richer.
"We are very sorry about the elimination but yesterday we really played a great game. Let us not forget that we were playing against Chelsea the team which lost last year’s cup by a mere penalty and we were up to standard".
Juventus played both matches at par (even being slightly better in certain instances even at Stamford Bridge) but were punished by a series of incidents and by the extraordinary skills of Drogba. The Striker from the Ivory Coast is one of the best footballers in the world and the fact that he was compared to Amauri is a reason to be proud for the Brazilian:
"In these two matches he showed that he is an exceptional striker. I want to improve further and hope to reach his level soon enough".
