On The Eve Of The Second Match
After having started the engines last Wednesday in the first friendly match against the Roman side of Cisco, Juventus is about to play a second. This time it will be an international test against Nancy, a team from the French top division.
The match will be played in Joeuf, a city which became famous as the birthplace of Michel Platini. The local team in which Le Roi made his first steps is celebrating its 100th anniversary and the UEFA president is organizing a match between the two teams in which he played.
The match, tomorrow Sunday 19th July will kick-off at 18:00hrs and will be aired live on Juventus Channel.
The bianconeri will leave Pinzolo in the morning and return in the evening after the match. 23 will be leaving with the squad, practically the same players who played against Cisco together with goalkeeper Pinsoglio.
The rest of the group – made up of the internationals (Buffon, Cannavaro, Chiellini, Camoranesi, Iaquinta, De Ceglie and Marchisio) who arrived in Pinzolo in the last few days, Almiron, Kirev, Diego and Sissoko – will remain in Val Rendena where they will take part in two training sessions.
The head of the medical staff, Bartolomeo Goitre, spoke of four of the players who will remain in Pinzolo giving news with regards to Diego, Iaquinta, De Ceglie and Sissoko.
The Brazilian is continuing with his fitness programme which will see him join the group possibly in the next two days. The striker from Calabria did not take part in the afternoon session out of precaution, following the intense morning session.
The winger from Valle D’Aosta, arrived in Pinzolo while recovering from the injury to his left ankle suffered during the Under 21 European Cup in Sweden and after having undergone medical tests will continue taking part in separate training sessions in order to strengthen and stabilize the ankle in question but should be back on the field as from tomorrow even though he will train separately.
The Mali player is recovering and today began progressively working with his mates.
Back to the match against Nancy, Ciro Ferrara spoke of the match on Juventus Channel. For the coach, the match in Joeuf brings to mind his debut in the Serie A, 24 years ago.
It was against Juventus and Michel Platini. In his first international encounter as coach he once again meets Michel Platini, even though in a different role.
"For me it will be a pleasure to meer Michel again even though we met recently in Turin. Apart from this, the test against Nancy is important as was the match against Cisco. At this time of the season every match is useful and should be played with the right spirit, knowing that we will be meeting a valid team that plays in the French Serie A".
A few days after the first match, the protagonists, therefore, will not change and neither will the indications to be drawn.
"We will be going to France with the same player. I know we will not be in our best condition and that the fatigue caused by the training will be felt but I still expect to find some positive indications. The rest of the group will remain in Pinzolo to work".
"Diego? I hope he will make his debut on Tuesday against Vicenza but at the time being we do not have any hurry and do not want to force his return. Perhaps even some of the internationals can make it on Tuesday".
