Friendly Against Al-Ittihad On The 30th December
2009 for Juventus will come to an end in Asis, precisely in Jeddah, one of the main cities of Saudi Arabia. On the 30th December, during the Christmas break, Ferrara’s team will be playing a friendly match against Al-Ittihad, the team which can boast of being the vice-champions of Asia. The match wil be played at 20:45hrs local time (3 thours ahead of the time in Italy).
The agreement was signed yesterday evening between Marco Fassone, Executive Director for Stadium, Sales and Marketing of Juventus and Simone Avogadro di Vigliano in front of representatives of the Saudi club.
It will be a fascinating match for Del Piero and friends while awaiting to get back to official matches at the beginning of January. Al-Ittihad is one of the most famous teams in Asia. In its trophy cupboard there are 8 national titles, 2 Asian Champions League (2004 and 2005) – apart from the final lost last year- and an Arabian Champions League. Just like Juventus, last Summer they took part in the Peace Cup in Andalusia, managing to bring back a prestigious 1-1 draw against Real Madrid at the Satiago Bernabeu.
At the moment there are no international champions in the team (the best player is Mohammed Noor), but in the past the team saw players like ex-Italian coach Roberto Donadoni, Gennaro Ruotolo, Brazilian star Bebeto and former Inter player Kallon. There is also a former Juventus player in the history of the club: Antonello Cuccureddu who was coach during the 2002/03 season.
