Bonucci: "This Juve Can Go Far"
Forty days that change a life. Since the 1st of July, when his arrival at Juventus was announced, life for Leonardo Bonucci became a continuous emotion: the arrival at the training camp, the meeting with his team mates and the Juventus world, the debut in the Europa League in Dublin and that in front of his supporters in Modena.
After the parenthesis with the national team in London, he is now about to embark on another two appointments wholeheartedly: two away matches in “his” Bari within 10 days. Tomorrow for the Trofeo TIM and above all on the 29th August in the first championship match.
«" knew it – confessed Bonucci during an exclusive interview on Gazzetta dello Sport-. I had spoken about it with my friends on the eve of the draws. Perhaps somebody has already written my story. With Bari I had a great championship. I am climbing up the ladder and am hungry for success. I have always believed in my means and the Juventus jersey is not a burden".
It is a jersey which he knows since he was a child. As he already stated on Hurra` Juventus (in the current edition), Leonardo repeated once again his passion since his early days: "Yes, I have always supported Juventus but my family supports Inter. I am the only sheep…in black and white".
"Last year in Bari everybody asked me whether I supported Inter due to my past in their youth sector. I always answered that I was grateful to a club which allowed me to make it to top football and that’s it. In my room as a child I had a poster of Del Piero and of Peruzzi. Whether the captain has changed from idol into team mate? He is a number one, a silent leader. He only speaks when it is the time to unite the team, laugh or joke".
Forty days. The time to begin to realize and understand the new reality and to get to know Del Neri. "Sometimes the coach says it is better to send the ball into the stands. My defect is that I never want to shoot it away. I like to risk. I will try to improve even in this aspect".
"How I see the team? In Europe we want to go as far as possible. We must aim at winning. It is not enough for us to participate. The championship objective is the Champions League zone in order to be realistic. The word “scudetto” is not a taboo but it is better to keep our feet on the ground and understand where we can arrive after a couple of months ".
